We are interested in having an idea of costs for drinks on board HAL (Europe); eg: for beer, wine and shots. Also, how does HAL enforce the "no beverages to be brought on board at embarkation" policy? Thanks!

Drink prices are about the same as your local Holiday Inn or other mid-range hotel.

We just got off the Statendam a month or so ago and found that the drink prices have gone up and the amount served is less. In fact we made mention of this to one of the bar servers whom we have gotten to know from quite a few cruises over the years when she e-mailed us a couple of weeks ago.
We now just order a bottle for the cabin and maybe have a drink a bar once in a while. There were times when the bar tender didn't even give you a full 1 1/2 ounces - spilled it on the bar - and acted as though he could care less.

Does anyone know the price of a bottle of vodka or gin on board?

On our last cruise we paid $26 plus 15% gratuity on board for a bottle of Absolut - the prices seem to be going up each month as you read through various posts here.

We sailed the Zui in Dec. and a glass of chardonnay in one of the bars ranged from $5.95 to $7.95 and sometimes was only half full. I don't like my glass filled to the brim when we buy the bottle but by the glass they should at least give you 6 oz.

Just returned from 17 days on the Zaandam and noticed the drink prices had gone up somewhat. Beer seemed to be the same, $3.95 for domestic..bud, coors, millers, imported beer was from $4.35 to $4.95. Wine was anywhere from $4.60 to about $8 depending on what you drank. Well shots were about $4.25 going up the shelf to about $6. Frozen drinks ran about $6. They had several happy hours every day in different lounges, just check your daily programs for where and what. These ranged from build your own bloody mary in the mornings, to two for ones, martini specials, all the way up to $2 well shots in the casino bar from 11pm-12.30pm. Hope this helps.....jean
