Sunday and Thursday. Saw very, very few tuxes, a few dark suits, mostly coats and ties. A few were also dressed more casually.

Anyone who dresses casually on a formal night in the formal dining room, on HAL belongs on Carnival OR NCL. Wow. Shocking.

My honey will wear a TUX, and proudly. We are 30 and we know better.
I will wear a formal evening gown.

This really irks me, if you are dressed casual, eat in a casual eatery.

I dont understand this!

We don't worry about what the others are wearing -- DH will still wear his tuxedo and I will still be dressed formally as well.

We sailed the Eurodam in March 2009. Most were dressed elegantly on formal nights. For us the formal nights were the 2 "at sea" days. My dh and and the dh of our companion travelers dressed in their dark suits. My friend and I dressed in cocktail dresses. Most were dressed this way. The few we noticed that were dressed casually must have eaten in the Lido as we did not notice them in the MDR. A lot of people stayed in their elegant attire for the duration of the evening. We ended most evenings in the Piano Bar (always a fun place) and most of the people there were dressed up as well. Hope this helps.

To the gents--there is just nothing better looking than a man in a uniform--and a tux might be classified as a uniform of sorts. You might be surprised at the effect it will have on your spouse.

I get to "dress up" only a couple of times a year--at my bird convention banquets. I really look forward to it. There isn't much inspiration to do more than wear jeans on the farm. The animals don't care what I wear as long as they get fed. I love wearing those dangly earrings when there isn't a parrot close by to try to remove them. So I am looking forward to formal nights. But, I do understand those who have to be presentable every day and don't want to have to dress up on a vacation.

I wore a dark suit and looked pretty darn good if I don't say so myself. ;)

The 7 night vs 10 night cruises are a bit unpredictable. We just finished a 7 night on the Eurodam.

On our March 13 cruise, the MDR was empty most nights. Something I had never seen before. Did not bother us, we had a table for 2 anyway.

I did ask the Matre'd -- he said most passengers were ordering meals in their cabin that cruise.

There was a medical group on board so maybe they had homework or something??

We husband always were a tux or a white dinner jacket on formal nights. He gets many compliments on how handsome he looks and I have to agree.
