Is their a way to request that the beds be made up as twins instead of a king before we arrive at our cabin? There is always so much more room to unpack our suitcases. We usually have to wait a long time before the young men can get back to do it.

If it's not set to your liking when you arrive, just tell the attendant...it's not a problem to have them set up the way you want....

!:D
The last three cruises (with my SIL and one with my DIL) I "ordered" twin beds and we've walked in to one large one.
It's not a big deal. Just call housekeeping if you can't find your Room Steward and it will be fixed as quickly as possible.

There is a spot on the booking form for bed arrangement preference so tell your TA to note that you want the twin bed set-up. If you booked directly with HAL then let them know and your cabin will be as you want it when you arrive.

There is always so much more room to unpack our suitcases.Book a bigger cabin. :D (Just kidding) Yes, you can request it be set up as twins, but unfortunately that request is often overlooked in the rush of turn-around day. We just live with it until they can make the change.

We always request twins ahead of time, and it's always one big bed when we walk into the room. But by the time you get your luggage delivered and have the life boat drill, your beds can be separated.;)

I've had the same issue. I usually tell the steward to wait until the next day. I usually travel alone so it's not a problem. I like to have 2 beds because it does make the room seem bigger. I also like to have some place to put my "junk".

I would have your Travel Agent contact HAL and make the request.

In my experience, no matter what you request in advance, what you will find is the configuration that was last used. The stewards have learned by experience that they should wait until the new guests arrive and ask for the change, before making it. That way, they can be sure it's what the guests really want, and only end up changing it one time, if at all.
If their advance info turned out to be wrong, then they wasted their effort, and will have to turn it back a second time.

HAL will give you what you want for your "vacation of a life time." HAL always goes out of the way to make the PAX happy!

Thanks all for your input. I now understand why they don't bother to change the bed configuration. Although I don't think we have ever arrived to find the beds in the separate configuration.
I did ask our TA to put 'twin beds' in the HAL form.

We asked our room steward about always finding the beds together when we requested twins - he said that if they see Mr. & Mrs. on the form they automatically put the beds together.
We just unpack and put the suitcases out of the way until they fix the beds and never expect to see them set up as twins. On the last day when the room stewards get the room ready for the next guests while we are still there, they always put the beds together.
