We are on the Destiny on the 4th April and we've been told we have to pay port fees,
how much are these and how is it best to pay them.

All port fees should be included. Where did you hear this? In 38 cruises ive never heard of such a thing and we have never had to lay out any additional money for 'fees' apart from sometimes the odd shuttle bus ticket from port to town.

According to the Thomsons web site port fees are included in the price so either someone is trying to wind you up or they are confusing port fees with visas.
In some destinations you might have to pay for your own visa if you are doing your own thing. Visas are arranged by Thomsons if you go on a ships excursion.
