I need to book the airfare for our March 27th Westerdam cruise. The latest flight out of Fort Lauderdale on Southwest is 1pm - will we make it off the ship, get our bags and make it to the airport in time?

Yes, provided the ship isn't late docking. If need be you can request an early disembarkment. Suggest you keep your luggage in your room to save time when you get off the ship.

Yes, 1 pm is perfect. I usually get a noon time flight and have been at the airport with time to spare. You'll be fine.

And do not use Holland's airport transfer. My parents were stuck last monnth almost an hour waiting for the bus to fill up. They spent $24 (for 2) and we spent $15 including tip for a taxi. We beat them to the airport by almost an hour and a half! We were at FLL in the waiting area at 9:50 am. I am sure it isn't always that quick but 1 pm seems plenty late to me!

I'll second the above. Grab a cab. Much quicker and cheaper. Cabs will be plentiful just outside. We've made noon flights just fine, so 1:00 should be no problem. Have a great cruise.

You will get a form in your cabin to fill out within the first 24 hours concerning your disembarkation. On it mark that you have an 11 AM flight - they don't check. That way you will get a number to be among the first off the ship. And definitely use a cab.

Chances are there will be many ships in Ft Lauderdale the day you return and you will not want to waste time getting to the airport and through security - it can be a real hassle in Ft Lauderdale.

Yep do bring your patience when you go to Ft. Lauderdale's Airport....what a mess that place can be!! Now with the heightened security measures it seems even slower and will require every ounce of your patience. If you go in there knowing that, then if it goes smoothly, you are in for a pleasant surprise!

Coming home is always the hardest part of the trip!
