We travel on the Westerdam in October - will she go into dry dock before that? If so, what will be changed?

I think the Westerdam is going into drydock in April. Other than adding the restaurant Canaletto(sp) I am unsure what they are doing. I am sailing her in May and will post what changes occurred.pj:)

Yes, the Westerdam will be in dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas after the current 7 day cruise to Aruba and Curacao. Afterwards, she will cross to Europe and Africa.

With all the damage -- i.e. -- cranes, etc., in Freeport -- dock area got hit pretty hard -- wonder if they will be able to do everything that they had planned?

I called HAL this morning to ask when they would address the repercussions of the tornado damage affecting the Westerdam sailing of 4/14/2010. The representative I spoke to said there was no news of this storm on his computer and stated that he would know about it if a storm really happened. I asked to speak to someone who might be aware of the situation and was put on hold for several minutes. Is it unreasonable to be concerned?

The follow-up news report indicated there was no damage at the drydock area.

Ruth, I've read that now. Whew!!! I feel so bad for the workers who were killed or injured but am also grateful that the HAL ship and facilities were okay. You're up for the second half of my cruise in May. I'll wave as we disembark :( I know that you and grandgirl will have a fabulous time.....we promise to leave some CHOCOLATE for you.

Thanks for the good wishes. And right back at cha! Have a great time.
And thanks for leaving some chocolate. I hate it when there's a shortage! Besides, it will be all I can do to arm wrestle it away from the grandgirl. (But I will. She's strong, but I'm crafty. ;))

April 4-14
Canaletto is the "big" addition. Other than that, general maintenance inside and out and as needed around the ship, carpeting and so forth
