Hello!
My family and I are booked on a land/sea cruise in August, and I am wondering if we will be able to take advantage of the new transportation feature that allows you (if you have a Disney room booked onsite) to check your luggage at your airport and then see it again when it arrives in your room. Our Land stay is first, so I'm wondering if this service is being extended to Land/Sea passengers as well.
Plus, it would be great to have transportation from the airport to the hotel! I booked our airfare and transfers to the ship through Disney (I just wanted it to be easy, rather than be responsible for glitches), so I'm wondering if we will be able to really relax and not have any transportation worries, or if I need to book a Mears shuttle or cab.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

When we went on our Land/Sea package in 2001, we chose the transportation that the cruise line provided. We were responsible for getting the luggage to the shuttle. Then some disney magic and it appeared in your room. Then from the resort to the ship, the cruise line took care of it. You left your luggage in your room and they came and got it. When the cruise was over you also left you luggage in your room. They gathered it and you met up with your luggage after customs. I hope this helps and I didn't babble too much :)

I would call DCL directly and ask. If you used a travel agent, he/she may not know the answer. Also, you may want to call a second time and make sure you get the same info!

Just put your luggage tags on your bags before you check in at the airport, and you never have to worry about seeing your luggage again until you get to your room. You simply get off the plane, follow the Disney representative with the big hand, and they will escort you to your bus.
Once you get to your hotel, you check-in, and your key to your room will be the same as the room to your cabin, and will also act as your "charge" card. This card works in the parks as well.
In addition, when you are going from the hotel to your ship, you leave your packed luggage in your room, and they will get it to the ship for you. Then, you can leasurely go to one of the parks that morning for one last visit (Animal Kingdom).
Don't forget to take advantage of the service they provide you, where anything you buy in the parks can be delivered directly to your hotel, so you don't have to lug it around all day.
The Disney service you receive will amaze you.

Thanks for all the wonderful replies. I have since changed my travel arrangements slightly -- flying on our own, coming in a day early, staying at hotel our onsite, and still saving $200 overall.
This website has been a huge help. I had no idea I could save so much, and get more convenient travel times, simply by doing the simple job of booking my own flights.
Disney is making travel to the World much easier for guests, and I'm glad we can take advantage of that!
Thanks again for all the great information!

I also purchased the land/sea package. However, I am using Happy Limo to get from MCO to Poly. (I'm impatient!)So does the same apply to my situation also?
I hope so, b/c it would be nice to get off of plane and into a private car and not have to deal with or wait in baggage claim. :D
