We're booked on the Zuiderdam in March. We're first time cruisers and we wondered if the private cabanas on Half Moon Cay are worth the expense. I've found a bundle of information reviewing the other ports of call but not much on Half Moon Cay. Any info would be helpful...

Lisa,
We are also booked on the Zui in March, waht week are you going? we are going March 19, we have booked the pink cabana on Half Moom Cay. I have never been but heard it is wonderful.
I amot sure if it is worth the $$ but oh well.. I have spent more on less!

Is it $217 per person or cabana? HALs site looks like per person, but I read somewhere that that was per cabana up to 4 people.

Lisa,
I have read mixed reviews on whether or not people think it is worth it. I guess it just comes down to personal preference.
We booked one for our trip next week and are really excited about it! We're sharing it with another couple that we are traveling with, so the price is worth it for us. From my understanding it comes with beverages (water/soft drinks), snacks (veggies, dip, chips, salsa), float mats, snorkel gear, and butler service.
Below is a link with pics and a map from one families experience.

Talented Mr. Limpit,
Did you also purchase the Butler upgrade? Is that an additional $270? I visited the link and it appeared the family had steward service. If the steward service is included in the $219, it is definitely worth it. You'll have to let us know after you return whether the cabana lived up to the expectation.
CanadianMAG - I hope your wedding is beautiful and you have a wonderful honeymoon.
Thanks for all of your replies! We are on the Zuiderdam March 12th.

Good Question!
Now you have me wondering what I bought?!
If not, since it occupies four, I'll have three of them working for me anyway!
I'll let you know after the 24th.

We booked the turquoise cabana for our Oosterdam cruise in November and still say it was the high point of the trip. We were travelling with another couple so it only cost $110 per couple. We saw no need for the butler because our cabana boys were amazing and waited on us hand and foot.
Lisa, did you use the "search" tool and type in "Half Moon Cay Cabanas"? Because we've talked endlessly about these over the past few months and you should find quite a bit of info.
Anyway, I highly recommend it. We had such a fantastic day.

Our day at Half Moon Key on the Zaandam in October was really 4 hours. first tender off and last on was less than 4 1/2 hours. Now price out those cabanas and see if they are worth it.

We returned from our 12/6/04 on the Volendam and once again had a cabana, and we thought it was well worth the money. It was a rainy, cool and breezy day, and the cabana provided shelter from the rain and wind while still allowing us to enjoy the beach. Please be aware that the beach has diminished some, and in places drops off dramatically. Please swim in the designated areas for maxium safety. On our first cruise, we had the pink cabana, and this time we had the taupe which was the closest to the lifeguard. I hope you have a wonderful time in your cabana.

We had the Pink Cabana in November and liked it very much. I have some pictures of it on my website: www.brandis.org
If you want more opinions and informations about the cabanas, try a search using keywords like "cabana" or "cabana location" etc...

Lisa, I have photos and pricing for all of the cabanas in a thread here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=32745&page=1&pp=25
This was all as of June 2004, so the hurricanes happened between then and now. But the information should still be helpful! :)
