So I was thinking, since there are seasoned cruisers here, and many rookies, why not dedicate this thread for "words of advice" that you have learned from your previous cruises or readings.
Example: Bring an alarm clock! They dont have one in the rooms (or so I heard)
Free Champagne at the art auction (so I heard as well)
I guess you get the point...

Make two copies of everything, from your passport down to your onboard credit. And I mean EVERYTHING. Give one copy to your emergency contact on land and take one with you but keep it seperate from the originals.

or cheap sharp object in the OUTSIDE pocket of the checked luggage so you can cut open the ties which they use to lock your luggage after it goes through inspection. Otherwise you have to call for a porter or steward and tip them just to cut off the darn thing. Make it cheap or it will be "lost" or "confiscated" during inspection.
Good thread.
Keep them coming. I love these tid bits learned through experience. :D

S cabins have clocks in them and there is an automated wake up call you can request. No need to tote an alarm clock. Also, on the Vista class ships - no need for power strips - plenty of plugs available.:D
