Welcome to Kevin and Ed!! As you'll see this is a pretty chatty bunch!!

It's been cloudy and very humid today; hope we get at least a little rain so I don't have to water the plants!!

Thanks to all who offered advice on travel insurance. I've been getting it through Travel Guard so will probably stick with them. I was just amazed to see that since I purchased it 2 years ago, and since then have gotten 2 years older, the price is almost double!! That was the shocker  !! If I don't cover the full amount spent, it would be less, but for $35 difference, it's not worth the risk. Soooo, guess I'll just suck it up, bite the bullet, etc. etc. and pay the going rate!! What's another $160 bucks at this point! ;)

Hope everyone's having a great weekend.

Wow! What a busy group you are!

We are Daena and Jack, and we will be joining you on this cruise. We are truly excited. We haven't taken a proper holiday in quite some time, and we are counting down the days. We are also looking forward to joining such an active group. Goodness!

We are from NYC, and leaving from NJ is a real treat. This ship seems beautiful and full of promise.

Please let us know if anyone has any questions about pre- or post-cruise ideas in NYC. We will help you as best we can.

Has anyone here thought about going to St Petersburg, Russia? It is supposed to be a great place to see.

I am booked on a cruise for 6-23-12. The itinerary is Southampton, England, Bruges,(Zeebrugge),Belgium, Berlin (Warnemunde), Germany, Stockholm, Sweden, Helsinki, Finland, St. Petersburg, Russia, Tallinn, Estonia, Copenhagen, Denmark, Southampton, England.

The roll call for that cruise is way too slow. You guys should book it, join the roll call and make it chatty. Think about it; we would have lots more to chat about.

You are in for an amazing itinerary! We took a similar cruise a few years ago on RCCL Jewel of the Seas. Amazing ports of call!

You need a visa to see things in Russia, so it's best to book through the cruise or else you will need to do a lot of visa-related leg-work in advance.

We took 2 tours: one was a day-trip to Moscow; the other was a "private" tour of St. Pete's (booked through RCCL). Both were spectacular, though the Moscow one was a little fast and furious (after all, there's only so much of Moscow one can see in less than 24-hour period when departing from St. Pete's!).

You will love, love, love this itinerary!

Here is a picture of Alex and Kim at the sailaway Thanksgiving cruise 2007. Not too cold. I can't see going indoors unless it rains that day. Too great a site to sail under that bridge to spend it looking out a window.

Wow lots to catch up on after a few days away. We were celebrating Alex's birthday this weekend. We spent 1 night in AC (warming up for the cruise casino). The bones didn't roll so well hope Celebrity brings us more luck. Sat we headed to DC to meet a few friends of Alex from college. Both Alex and Chuck turned 50 this week so we had a great time.

Congratulations on the birth of your new niece, Valerie. What's the baby's name? Thanks or sharing the beautiful pics.

Welcome newbies, Ed&Neal and Deana & Jack. I'm really going to need to print out the pictures and list to remember everyone. Can't see th website from my IPad cause it's flash so will need to check it out onm computer at work.

Oh my Pat - what a photo. Yes - Patty it was much colder in March but we were out at the Skybar. The bartenders had on 2 winter coats and ski caps (way too cold for men who grew up in the Caribbean islands. They though we were nuts out there having beers but we were excited it was sail away so didn't care how old it was!

Patty - we did the AI in Dominican and enjoyed it but it is much different than a cruise. A bit more relaxing during the day lazy on the beach or at he pool without ports and excursions. But at night wasn't as exciting. There was always music somewhere and some sort of show. The shows were a bit lame. The casino was awful and disco was too young. I think it would be fun with a group but we could play cards and or other stuff to make our own entertainment. I missed not getting dressed for dinner. It was really casual and mostly open air so even hot at night. I'd do it again though. Was good with our kids cause expensive to treat 4 drinking age 20 year olds to a cruise!

Welcome to new members and hello to those that have not been on the BB for awhile. I have been keeping a Roll Call listing for our cruise and send out an update each week.

If you want to be listed on it, I need the following information copied and pasted into an email and sent to me:

Member Name
First Names
State/Country
Town/Zip Code
Seating
Cabin/Deck
Sail Away Party
Connections Party
Farewell Luncheon
Slot Pull
Comments

Please don't use colors in your emails - I am partially color blind and have a problem with some colors!

I do a mass BCC emailing of the list once a week. New members signed in since the last update will be highlighted in Yellow!

atog254 at comcast dot net

I will be posting a challenge to all listed on the Roll Call with a prize to be given at our Connectons Party. I've done this on other cruises and everyone has had fun - but it's too early for details.

You must be listed on the Roll Call to receive the details with the Weekly Update!

Watch for the challenge!

If you have sent your Roll Call information and have not received a copy of the spreadsheet, please let me know ASAP.

Steve

Thanks all for the well wishes on my new niece. It has been a wonderful whirlwind since Friday! Chasing after a 1 1/2 yr old, and attending to a newborn... even with the mommy, daddy and aunt, we've had our hands full!

Her name is Mallory, and big sister Isabella. I'm still beaming, and running off pure adrenaline :D

Steve, that image was great, I love it! We definitely have a future cruiser on our hands! All in the family are avid cruisers, so I'm sure it wont be long before we all set sail!

Happy belated B-day Pat!! (couldn't get to the computer yesterday ;))

Dee,
Glad the sun was shining for your sister's party. Hope your feeling better.

Kim and Alex,
Glad you guys had fun celebrating Alex's 50th. Kim, hope your foot is doing okay.......you weren't out dancing were you? LOL

Kim, That's exactly what we thought about the all inclusive when we went to Punta Cana......very boring at night and yep, shows were outside and really amateur. That's exactly what I told Tony.........said I'd do it again but only with other people because you can make your own fun and maybe sit around at night and play cards. Tony keeps saying we should bring the kids, spouse and GS on a cruise and I'm with you. I'll pay for their cruise but not their bar bills.......LOL Much cheaper to take the family to an all inclusive......LOL

Kevin and Ed,

Welcome to Deana and Jack as well......glad all 4 of you will be joining us and YEP, we're definitely chatty! LOL;)

Sounds like PA received more than our share of rain...It rained a lot yesterday, poured heavy last night, and rained hard off and on most of the today. We could have gladly given Texas about half of the downpours we rec'd.

They predicted thunder storms pretty much 4 out of the last 7 days at the shore but we got nada which was great for us. The ocean water temps were excellent.

Welcome to Kevin & Ed and, Daena & Jack. I do not have to tell you that we are an active group because you have already seen that. Just like Steve mentioned in an earlier post, he is maintaining a Roll Call spreadshhet and he mentioned the details of that.

I have also put together a website for the cruise and a photo gallery so you can get a chance to see some of those that are sailing with us. So here is how they work.

To get the website link, you need to send me your CC name to

hac82 at yahoo dot com

We also have the photo gallery. Now for that one, I require a photo of yourselves and the following information:

Where you are from (this can be just your state, or you can also include the city
Where you will be on the ship (this can be just the deck but you can give your cabin if you want.
Let me know if you are celebrating anything special on the cruise
Tell me the names of those in the photo in the order they are appearing (l-r) just in case there are others that are in the photo that are traveling with you but they do not post.

When I get the photo, I will post it to the gallery and send you the links and the password for that gallery.

Bottom line is to share with us and we share with you
Also, there is a Connections Party already confirmed for the ship because they needed 25 and we are over 60. If you would like to attend this party and have a chance to meet everyone, then you need to register for this party. The link should be on the page near the top. You will be notified on the ship where and when the party will be.

As you can seem, we really have a lot going on.

Hi everone,
I have not been able to follow the posts recently as we have had my Niece and her Husband come up from Wales to stay with us for a few days, and or one the weather was kind to us - well it did not rain which is amazing for the UK.

Welcome to all the new members, so many new people to look forward to meeting.

Patty,

I followed that link for the Dining Package from Caribbean 1004 and saw that the prices are in Sterling not US$ so for you the cost will be different.

Deeana and Jack,

I noticed you offered to help with information on New York for anyone who needed it. We will be arriving three days before the cruise and are staying in Newark
then, after the cruise we are staying in NYC. Can you tell me if it would it be easy for us to get into NY in order for us to visit the Intrepid Air and Space Museum from Newark? My husband is ex Navy and would like to visit that attraction.

Hi Amy,
Yes it is probably because we are in the UK,
The prices in Sterling are:- Dining Package for 2, 68.50GBP and Speciality Restaurant Package 49.90GBP. At todays currency conversion these work out at $111.65 and $81.34
don't know how that compares to your prices.

Amy, thanks for the link but that's not the one I saw before. This one is just 1 dinner with champaign included. The one I saw before was for 2 or 3 restaurants for 1 set price, if I remember right, it wasn't a bad deal. I bet now that they are raising the price of the restaurants, they took the packages away.

Margaret

Hi, Margaret,
It depends on how you define "easy," I suppose. Personally, I would say it's a bit of a schlep to get from Newark to the Intrepid Museum, but it's definitely do-able.
If you are taking public transportation, you would take the train (take NJ Transit, not Amtrak, b/c NJ Transit is much, much cheaper) from Newark Penn Station to New York Penn Station. Yes, it's very confusing that they're both called Penn Station, but there it is.
New York Penn Station is located on West 34th between 7th and 8th Avenues. You can take the "A" or "C" subway trains to 42nd Street/Times Square, which is located near 8th Avenue.
At this point, you could take the M42 bus (which is a bus that goes east-west on 42nd Street). Take the M42 towards the "Hudson" or "12th Avenue". Get off at the last stop. I would probably not recommend taking the bus, though, if you are able to walk or if you're able to take a cab. You can wait a long time for the bus, and oftentimes you are able to walk faster than a bus can drive on 42nd Street, which is perhaps the busiest street in NYC.
The Intrepid is located on the Hudson River near West 47th Street. The Hudson River is about the equivalent of 12th Avenue. It is a bit of a journey, but it is entirely possible.
I would guess that it will take you about 45 minutes - 1 hour from the time you board a train at Newark Penn Station.
You can also take a yellow cab when you emerge from Penn Station. All cabbies should know how to get to the Intrepid.
It is a lovely museum and reminder of the amazing service that people, such as your husband, have given to the U.S.
Hope this helps,
D&J

We did the Century 2 years ago leaving from Amsterdam. St Petersburg was wonderful. We did a private two day tour being picked up at 7AM. It was a very full day but worth every penny. We did a add on at 8PM we went to a BALLET. Saw SWAN LAKE it was great. Getting back to the ship around MIDNIGHT and it was still light. Then getting picked up again at 7. This day included a Hyro boat ride. All 12 of us feel asleep on this. Continued the tour, went to local food store to buy VODKA, Chocolates and other gift items. It was WondefUL and I do mean full days. There was so many things to see Peter the Great summer palace, Church of the Spilled Blood, and Hermitage museums. So much more. This day we were back on board for 5PM in time for ship to pull the plank.
We also stopped in many of the same places you mentioned. Our 2nd best port was Tallinn. We wish we had more time at this port. 1/2 day wasn't enough. What an unexpected surprise!! Although it was very expensive $20US for a beer and $10US for coke! But bought winter weight sweater for $50US and well worth it. Some amber was bought at both ports also.
Hope you do this cruise. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Steve or myself will gladly help. samkmm1969atyahoodotcom

We are planning on taking a private tour in St. Petersburg with one other couple. I have it narrowed down to about 3 different company's. Which one did you use?
I checked our itinerary and we will be in Tallinn form 8 AM to 5 PM.
Did you do Tallinn on your own or hire a guide?
Which other ports did you do on your own?

Thank you so much D & J for your in depth directions on how to get to the Intrepid. We have two full days in Newark before the cruise so will probably attempt to go there on the second day by then we should have recovered somewhat from jetlag, although we do not suffer as much when flying east to west as much as when we are flying home, takes me quite a few days to be myself again then.
Thanks again.

If I could offer up an opinion on that, Kim and I go into NYC very often and I think it is probably just best to take the train to Penn Station NYC and then catch a cab from there to the Intrepid. The extra steps of a subway to 42nd St. and then a bus to 12th Ave. just isn't worth it I don't think. The cab fare for two people would be similar in price and it would be direct and faster.

Not meaning to step on any toes, but if I think I see something that can help I want to chirp up.

mjwcruising In answer to your question we used Alla Tours. www.alla-tours.com. Our tour guide was Eleana. She was excellent she is a school teacher on summer vacation. Tallinn we did on our own walked in the medival area and churches. Helsinki we did ship tour to ICE BAR. That was a complete waste both bar and Helsinki. Berlin we did not enjoy but that was because we had a terrible guide. Would never use that tour agency again. So going with ships tour might be good. Stockholm we went to see changing of the guard found that info in Rick Steves book. Used Hop on Hop off Boat. Also went to see the VASA Ship. Steve found that very interesting. Copenhagan we did hop on hop off bus. Didn't do much here it rained and Steve got lost. Hope this helps you with your cruise.

99 days til cruise!! 99 days til cruise, I'm singing - 99 days til cruise!!!! August seems to be flying though -- whoa, slow down summer!! As much as I want this cruise, I don't want the summer to end for quite a while yet! :)

Amy: have you tried to order the restaurant package? We've already booked Tuscan Grill and the new Outdoor Grill. I've tried to go into "our cruise" to see the packages offered. I can't find it. Has anyone had any luck? Thanks
Lynda
Hi Lynda,

No i haven't had any luck - sorry. I specifically remember seeing restaurant packages of 2-3 or whatever in the gifts section on their website - the link i provided before. But now I don't see any great packages - just ones w/ alcohol, but not 2-3 restaurants. My best guess is that they took them down with the increase of the specialty restaurant prices.

Thanks,

Lynda, I believe they are only offered on a space available basis when on board. They do allow you to cancel and rebook if they offer it.

Summer: you are correct. I called Captains Club, said we can only purchase the package once on board. We have two booked, we're fine. Now to start looking for excursions.
Thanks

Got my stuff from Cafe Press. I ordered a tee shirt for my self but it is so big that I will wear it for a bathing suit coverup. Ordered Rod an extra large sweatshirt. He hasn't tried it on but I did. It fit me fine so if he thinks it is big for him, I will order a large sweatshirt for him and I will wear the extra large. got the square magnet for the door and I just love it.

Confirmed!! We just got about another $100 each in 1B. Total drop since we booked is over $500 now! Plus our small credit for transferring to the TA - those savings combined make our drink package almost free now!! Nice!

Hi Patty - no we haven't tried a restaurant package. We actually haven't dined in any specialty restaurants on Celebrity - because we've always traveled with family that it would just cost way too much ($200 or so... vs eat in the MDR for free??) We were hoping to try one this cruise (since it's just 2 of us), but may stick to the MDR if we can't get in on some sort of package deal. That would be awesome to get a package on board, because then we could use OBC on it! :D

We are hoping to get a package deal for the restaurants when we get on board also, but if we don't well we will wait until our next cruise and try again. We haven't booked another cruise yet but hopefully, we will soon or maybe wait to see what they offer on the ship.

We had to pay for our cruise on Tuesday, I told the travel agent I was not very happy about paying so early as it says on our confirmation from Celebrity that they need payment by 22 Sept. So if the price goes down again we will probably have a problem with the TA to implement any reduction. Never had this sort of problem with our previous TA we ony used this one because they were a short walk from our house and it was convenient, but never again!!!!! We will either book direct or use our previous one, they were very helpful and efficient.

Any suggestions for snorkeling in St. Croix? I guess we dock in Fredriksted. Stopped there a few years ago in the evening for a fuel stop. That was interesting. The local people put on a parade for us. The cruise pier was just being started. There were a few places in town open.

The cruise line doesn't require final payment until the first week in Sept. A travel agency asking for a final payment the beginning of Aug. must need the cash flow, or they don't have a good relationship with the cruise line....or they don't want their clients benefiting from fare reductions because it cuts into their comm. If any of the above is correct maybe you should rethink a future booking with them. With so many web sites for booking you should call the shots. Almost every website and travel agency can get the same fare at the same time. You just have to build a relationship with an agent, wether it is on-line or face to face for them to look out for your interests. Try not to be just a confirmation number !;)

Hi,
I have already decided not to book again with the TA we used. We onky used them because they were so convenient and also because I have shares in the company (thought I'd be looking after my investment). Celebrity's invoice said they need final payment by 22nd September. They are one of the largest in UK so should not have any more cash flow problems than any other business in these harsh times. I think that this particular office were thinking of their personal bonus if their sales showed a downturn because of reductions offered by Celebrity.
There is going to be a strong letter from us to their head office regarding their staff at that particular branch, but we will write to them only when we have all our travel documents.
It is funny but most TA in UK seem to concentrate on selling P & O, Cunard, Princess Cruises all owned by Carnival, and most of the ads in the press are also geared that way. Maybe they pay more commission.

Hi Amy

No, she only said they would be available when on board. She did say that there is a price increase as of September 1st. So not sure if its worth waiting for a good price or booking now while the price is low. Either way it doesn't effect us.

While talking to TA I got price for upgraded cabin. Called back and its all gone. Can't believe I waited to long.

Weather on and saying its going to be rainy. We haven't had a bad weekend in a while here. Kind of disappointing. Got use to having good weather. Here goes the weekend.

We are thinking or ordering a car service to meet us on returning to Bayonne after the cruise. I don't know if that is a good idea or not. On a previous cruise we sat with a limo driver from NY and I think he said he worked for a company called Dial 7. Does anyone know or have heard of that firm otherwise can anyone recommend another company? We would also need a car to take us back to Newark Airport 4 days later. Maybe we should just take our luck with a taxi to Manhatten.

Patty, This info was in the Captains Club newsletter we got last week or so. These packages get pricey with wine. They used to have a 3 restaurant package for $99 a person, no wine. With the prices going up I am sure that it is higher now also. As far as I remember you always bought this once you boarded the ship.

I normally just check our category prices when I look, but I just looked at the deluxe balcony and WOW!

I'm seriously contemplating 'downgrading'. Not sure if it's worth it, though. DH really wants Aqua but the less expensive balcony is nearly $1000 less than what we paid. However, we already paid everything but $50 or $100 so it's done, but I'm trying to put a value on the amenities we get in AQ and I'm not sure they are worth $1000. It's close.

I see a pro/con list in my future.

Hey, a bargain is a bargain. Tough decision. You can still get your money back from Celebrity. The amenities of Aqua don't interest me except maybe the fact that you can eat in BLU which everyone says is great. Cabin location is more important to me. Good luck with your pro/con list.

Patty, The obstruction is a life boat is under your balcony on a 2 C. You can see just fine except not down at the water. Our first time on Solstice we stayed on deck 6 and had no problem with a view. Those life boats obstruct everyones view no matter what deck only if they want to look directly down at the water. If $400 means anything to you, then I say go for it. The balconies are what you are used to on Royal. Staying on deck 6 is good as it is only 1 floor down to where most of the indoor fun begns.

I was looking at the two B's which are not as cheap as the c or d, but no obstruction. They are $1349.

So that's $700 and not what I thought, obstructed will be $800.

But I'll lose

1.) extra cruise credit
2.) pillow menu
3.) afternoon canapes
4.) access to steam rooms
5.) Blu

we're in a nice cabin now, not a bigger balcony, but the one right before the hump, 1550, so it's somewhat private. All the available cabins are forwards.

Ok, DH was apparently more excited about saving money than he was about Blu. So I was able to snag an extended size balcony on deck 6 and save $800. People are doing mock bookings so I gave them a few rooms I would take in the aft section and I'm waiting for the confirmation.

Guess DH might be grabbing my breakfast for me in the morning. :)

That's just a ridiculously good price for that room over a holiday cruise, in my opinion. Now that I'm in the MDR I might cave and book a couple specialty dining res. before the price change.

I'm thinking about Thanksgiving in Murano. Hmmmm.

Hi Sarah - welcome to the thread; the more, the merrier.

We just got a price drop on our balcony cabin on deck 6 (6153) but in the process of checking the location and description of our cabin found out it was one of the 4 or 5 that are "partially obstructed" and when we booked, were told it was "unobstructed." Now our TA is fighting with Celeb to try and get us an unobstructed balcony. From the pictures of the ship, it looks like the arms that hold up the lifeboats are what causes the obstruction. Don't know if this is a big enough issue to change cabins, but am having our TA look for something better (at the same price). However, it looks like the only ones available may be forward or aft of where we are. I guess I'd rather go toward the back if necessary. Oh well, just something extra to keep life exciting!!! I can't really blame our TA as they were told by Celebrity (probably based on the configuration of a sister ship) that this cabin was unobstructed. Will have to wait and see - at least we saved some money!!! :) Anyone know how "partially obstructed" we would be??

Any suggestions for snorkeling in St. Croix? I guess we dock in Fredriksted. Stopped there a few years ago in the evening for a fuel stop. That was interesting. The local people put on a parade for us. The cruise pier was just being started. There were a few places in town open.
Not much. I know about Buck Island but seems like a long trip.

I live in Frederiksted and must say Buck Island is worth the trip - it is a long way but a great reef and sail. You are in on Thanksgiving so availability may be more limited. If you want to stay in Frederiksted then south of town is Sandcastles on the Beach hotel - great beach
and good snorkeling if it is clear. North of town Bernie's Beach Cafe is a great place for lunch, beach and snorkel too.

We are on the Silhouette Oct 10 Holy Land and the Oct 22nd TA to NJ so can answer any questions after we get back Nov 3rd!

Marge
Basically it's looking down on lifeboats or a roof. If you don't mind not having a direct view down to the water, it's a good price for a balcony. There might cleaning equipment

Also, 6304 is open right now, and it's a double sized balcony. We got 6305, and I'm pretty ecstatic about it now that it's done.

The view from deck 6 is just fine. Here is a pic of our balcony. The glass doesn't show that you can see through it but you can. Had too much reflection that day.

Confirmed!! We just got about another $100 each in 1B. Total drop since we booked is over $500 now! Plus our small credit for transferring to the TA - those savings combined make our drink package almost free now!! Nice!

Wow - two days later and our cabin category is back up to $1639/pp, we got it the other day at $1399/pp!! We caught it at exactly the right time!! Whew!! Cruise pricing is wild!

Hmmm. Booking a cabin seems to be a lot like playing the stock market! Everyone seems to pay something different based on when they book and what category. With stocks, folks pay all sorts of differents prices. I watch every day to see if I can pick up something solid at a low price. I'll never be as lucky as the day I bought several hundred RCL shares at $5.66!

Likewise, when it comes to cabins, I want to make sure I get what I want at the best price. You all seem to think the same way. It's kinda fun to see what bargains you can get! Also interesting to see what the priorities are for other folks.

For this cruise, we are AQ in a hump cabin. We really, really, really want to eat in Blu. We paid a nice low price - much lower than on the X web site now. So.....even if a great price on a suite should arise, I think we'll stay put this time.:)

And I keep hoping RCL stock will go down a bit more........I kept 100 shares for On Board credit and sold out the rest at $46.00 That'll NEVER happen again.;)

With all the talk about the price drops and such. I thought I'd chime in as I know final payment is becoming due shortly for most of us.

From my past experiences, I still check the prices on the cruises after final payment has been made. If you have a cooperative travel agent, and there *is* a price drop, they can call Celebrity, and the difference in fare can be added as an onboard credit. That happened to us on our last 3 times for Celebrity, and countless times on Royal.

While it's not specifically the cash back in our pockets, it's usually money we'll have spent on board anyway, so it's basically the same thing :D

As with the others in CC, I haven't seen a price drop in our cabins at all.. the prices now are still over $400 more PP than what we paid when we booked!

Now on to reviewing the specialty restaurants... when, which... hhmmm here comes *my* list of pros/cons LOL

I haven't been on a ship with Blu yet, for those who have, do you know if it is possible to make a reservation in Blu (for a night or two) without having booked an AQ cabin (kinda like a specialty restaurant)?

Would love to try it out :)

WOW! Fantastic! That was a nice heafty profit. Congratulations!
I'm still kicking myself for not getting in when it was so low. I'm stock shy and had some that I had purchased a few years ago at a higher price and I was watching it go down, down, down and it was scary of how much I was losing but I should have got another hundred as back-up knowing it couldn't go much lower that that. Oh, well. I did recoup my losses and got rid of it. Very stressful time! It's a shame you can't combine the shareholder benefit with other offers. Thinking of getting some if the price is right since I don't have any other company offers on this cruise.

Pat

Pat,

$400 means a lot to all of us............LOL:D:D

Anyway, I decided to stay where I am on deck 9 with all my friends..........LOL That's one of the reasons we all booked so early was to get those large balconies and be on the same deck.

Besides.............I think Summer grabbed the only cabin on 6 that I would have thought about switching to. It was a larger balcony but by the front hump. Am I right Summer? Congrats on the savings! $800 is a lot of money.

Pat, any suggestions as to what night would be good to book a specialty restaurant? Are shows the same on Celebrity as on RCCL where they have some shows before 2nd seating and some other nights they're after 2nd seating?

LOL..........the prices are crazy, aren't they? The 2A,B and C's all went back up too! LOL

It's weird because your 1B is now more than the 1A that we're in...........LOL Our 1A is still more than what we paid - we already got a price break before it went back up again.........thanks to Mary! :D I think it was Mary that posted here about the prices.

One time on the RCCL site I was just playing around looking for a cruise but we weren't really in the position to book one because we already had one booked for that year. Well, I found a cruise, balcony D1 cabin for just $999. I had a feeling that it was a mistake because the D2's and D3's were like $1,899 and $1,799. I told Tony I put a 24 hour hold on it and the next day the price went to $1,999 so it definitely was a mistake. I picked up the phone so fast and booked the one I had on hold for $999...........LOL ......that was a bargain cruise and we had a great time!

Patty, the shows work the same way as Royal. Some nights before and some nights after dinner. When you fiirst get on the ship and get together with friends that you will eat with, go to guest relations. There should be someone there making reservations for specialty restaurants. The menus are there and you can ask if they know what nights are specially good for you to go. When I went on Equinox this year with Elaine we had no problem making our reservations there.

Blu is for Aqua class and occasionally a suite guest can make a reservation for a $5 fee on a space available basis. It is not a large restaurant and that is what makes it special. The food is made in smaller quantities and seems much fresher. I guess the walk from the kitchen is not that far.

We never had an issue getting in before in a suite, they were really accommodating. You can have free breakfast there as well if you are in a suite.

Beachbuzzard, I think you first mentioned the price drop in that category, and thank you to you as well. Prices on Celebrity are computer generated. The computer has a formula that say by a certain date so many cabins in a catagory should be sold. When the number falls below expectations the price goes down. When the number is hit they go back up. That is why the prices change so quickly, we all talk to much to each other.:D

Hi Everyone

Just wanted to jump in on the pricing. Two years ago when we did the BALTIC on the Century. I found the price for less than 1/2 price which was listed on CELEBRITY. Called our TA and they told me it was impossible to be that cheap. She got back with me and that was the price. It was a 1 day Senior sale! I just happened by it. No one ever saw a cheap price like that one. It was about 2 months out. We never change cabins because I like to be mid-ship. Don't mind a INSIDE either. The price's are really intriguing this time out. 2B's look good!

Really starting to get excited. Don't want to rush the summer. Now that its the middle of August the weather is getting cooler. You can feel the difference and its a welcome relief.

It is funny you mention that as just last night I mentioned to Margo that I could feel fall coming, just the "crisp" feel one gets!

On another note, someone mentioned Thanksgiving and it made me wonder which nights might be "formal" on this cruise. Anyone have an idea?

By the way, are there 2 or 3 formal nights???? Anyone know???

I know when we were on RCCL's 12 nighter, they were so confused.....some people said 2, others said 3. People on the ship were even confused.......LOL

First formal night is usually the first full sea day.

One day leaving or returning to the ship (can't remember), there was a large sign posted saying "formal night tonight"...........LOL That was a surprise to everyone. There were 3 on RCCL. So one was on a port day and the last one was the first sea day coming home (we had 2 sea days coming home on that cruise). When we had 3 sea days coming home on another cruise, the last formal was the 2nd sea day coming home. It's never the last sea day as that's the night that the MDR is pretty casual and luggage is packed and ready in the halls.

So Luigi, I know I didn't answer your question....... but that's how they do it on RCCL. Pat, Mary or any of the other Celebrity cruisers can probably answer much better than me......LOL :D

Kathy, Wow.........great deal! That's exactly how I got the $999 price on that cruise too..........mine wasn't a special, I think someone goofed and left off the 1 before the 9.........LOL Once I booked it online they had to give me that price. Actually, it was within the full payment period because when I called to confirm it I had to pay it in full that same day.

A agree, the weather has been a welcome relief the last few days, nights are nice and cool and we even shut the air last night and opened the windows.......felt good. However, I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to "summer"...........LOL You definitely can smell fall in the air.

Pat,

Do they usually have special deals going?

Patty

Patty, usually the first night has a deal but we are never interested because we like to meet our wait staff and tablemates if we are not in Blu that is. In Blu you sir at a table by yourself but the tables are close enough to make friends with whoever you please. What you should not miss out on is the brunch in the dining room. They have this once a sailing and it is a big display of food. They have breakfast and lunch foods available, so if you can bring yourself away from the pool don't miss it. I hope they have it on the way home when it might not be pool weather so everyone can enjoy. Also the Senior officers party serves great food and is open to all elites. You have to wear long pants to it but it is really nice and you get to meet in person and talk to many of the officers. Now if you have any complaints that is the time to air them. I mentioned a problem I was having to the bar manager and he took care of it immediately. Great service on these ships, even though you might have to go to the higher ups to get a problem solved.

Hi folks - 96 days and counting!!! ;)

Well our problem with our "partially obstructed" stateroom has been resolved. We've been moved to the 8th deck (8321), gained a small reduction in price, plus $100 shipboard credit for the aggravation!! My TA said it took hours with Celebrity because no one could agree with "obstructed or not obstructed." Some of their documentation says no, but the Celebrity website says it is. In any event, we've moved up and are now happy cruisers!! :)

Here's a picture of what I think is the problem - the white arms that support the lifeboats probably block some of the balconies!

Cool, crisp morning here today - Fall is definitely in the air. I have a busy week coming up - 3 days of golf and 5 nights of rehearsals for our Variety Show in two weeks. I will definitely need a nice relaxing cruise!!

Patty

Sorry I forgot to reply to this! :) We were assigned 1605 which is a larger balcony ALL the way aft next to the corner sky suite. I don't mind the aft and the humps that were open had bad reviews (on the solstice info tab on the main celebrity board) about being above the smoking section which was smoky, and loud.

As far as the formal nights, I believe there are three, and a couple had mentioned that Thanksgiving is normally a formal night. We went ahead and booked Murano for Thanksgiving. I figure, I do a mean turkey at home. :)

There are (in my humble opinion) some don't miss entrees in Blu for those considering specialty reservations. They had a tempura soft shelled crab starter that was simply mind blowing, a BIG soft shelled crab, too, not a wimpy one. Also, my other favorites included a veal chop and the pecan encrusted duck breast.

Just saw some familiar names on this roll call. Hope all of you are doing well. Frank and I sailed with some of you a few times, and how much fun we had. I do remember the pirate group, and the fun we had in London.

Sorry we won't be on this sailing, we are sailing on the Silhouette 1/05, so behave yourselves and take good care of the Silhouette for us. Will await your review. Pat, I always look for you in AC. Jean

Hey guys,

Just got home from visiting with Frank & Joan in VA. Weather on the lower Delmarva penisula was great during our visit. Rained all the way home.

Getting caught up on the postings and jumping ahead ----- Welcome to new members and hello to those that have not been on the BB for awhile. I have been keeping a Roll Call listing for our cruise and send out an update each week.

If you want to be listed on it, I need the following information copied and pasted into an email and sent to me:

Member Name
First Names
State/Country
Town/Zip Code
Seating
Cabin/Deck
Sail Away Party
Connections Party
Farewell Luncheon
Slot Pull
Comments
atog254 at comcast dot net

Please don't use colors in your emails - I am partially color blind and have a problem with some colors!

I do a mass BCC emailing of the list once a week. New members signed in since the last update will be highlighted in Yellow!

If you have sent your Roll Call information and have not received a copy of the spreadsheet, please let me know ASAP.

Steve

Update will be sent tomorrow evening!

Thanks a lot, now I am hungry!!!!!:D

We like blu, we're not a big table MDR kind of dining room person. DO NOT take that we are snobs, as we are not. Just like quiet dinners.

Pat

Pat, we wouldn't be interested in the first night either. MDR for the first night for us too.........is it casual on the first night like RCCL is?? I'm usually so tired that first night just from the excitement of the day and unpacking. If luggage doesn't arrive in the cabin early enough, is it okay to wear jeans to dinner on the first night?

The brunch sounds great.......... We try to go to everything we're invited to.........

Marge

Marge, Great deal!! Good for you!! A savings plus $100 OBC.......Congrats!!

We had a busy day today.......was out from 8 am till 8 pm. Watched 2 soccer tourniment games at Princton Day School that our grandson played in. They won both games so will be playing again tomorrow. First game at 9 am again and depending on how they do tomorrow, they'll have another 2 or 3 games to play. Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow or at least holds off till tomorrow night. Went to get our passport pictures taken as ours will expire in October so have to get them renewed. Went shopping at the mall........... I bought nothing but DH bought quite a few shirts and a few pairs of shorts.

Hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

Blu is for Aqua class and occasionally a suite guest can make a reservation for a $5 fee on a space available basis. It is not a large restaurant and that is what makes it special. The food is made in smaller quantities and seems much fresher. I guess the walk from the kitchen is not that far.

Pat

Thanks for the info Pat :-) Good to know... looked at the menu Summer provided... hhmmm to switch or not to switch LOL! Thanks Summer, now I have to rethink it all over again ;)

Here is ten days of menu for "Blu" if you haven't seen them yet.

I'll try not to be too jealous. LOL

This was the menu when we went on the 10 day Equinox sailing at the end of April this year. Doesn't mean it will be the same for this cruise as it is a 12 day. I had printed this menu out and took it with me on Equinox so we knew when we wanted to eat in the specialty restaurants.

Jean, How are you and Frank. I am in AC way too much. We usually stay at the TAJ or Borgata. We were there last on Aug 2,3 and 4th. We went with friends to celebrate my birthday and my friend Ellen's birthday. Going again on Wed. to see the air show over the boardwalk and gamble. Rod wanted to go Labor day weekend but we have to get to our North Carolina house and make sure it is okay. Soon it will be hurricane season and we have to make sure the house is ready for it. So that is where we will be on Labor day weekend. We will try and keep the ship in good shape for you guys. Miss sailing with the two of you.

First night as long as you are clean you are fine in the main dining room. You should get your luggage by 4 pm. Celebrity is very good with getting you your luggage on time but quite a few people don't change. We normally have our clothes put away before sailaway.

Patty
We've taken two 11 day cruises, both on the Equinox, the past two years. There was only 2 formal nights on those. Don't know about a 12 day though. If I had to guess I"d say the first would be the second sea day which would be Sunday the 20th and then the second might be Thanksgiving which is Thursday (duh!?) the 24th in St Croix. I"d be surprised if there are any more than this.

BTW, never been to St Croix, any suggestions?

In Antigua, a few years ago we went
there on the Constellation. That week they had a "Bon Appetit" sponsered excursion that had a few food related excursions. Went to a cooking demon and nice lunch at a very small boutiquey type of hotel call "Harmony Hall". Was very nice, you could google it.

Luigi,

The first full sea day would be Saturday, the 19th, not Sunday. We leave on Friday, the 18th.......don't miss the ship............LOL:D;)

Every cruise we've ever been on has had a formal the first full sea day which to me is the 2nd night on the ship and they always have had it the night before the last night on the ship. What I don't know is if there is a 3rd one - RCCL does have 3 on their 12 nighters. My guess would be there is one at the beginning and one at the end of the cruise.......my question question would be "is there a 3rd one and what day will it be".........LOL

Not sure what we're going to do in St. Croix yet. Someone mentioned a snorkeling beach a few posts back but I'm not sure how far it is from the port. When I researched St. Croix, there's a lot of good snorkeling beaches, however, they're all pretty much on the other side of the island.

Hi folks - does anybody have any idea of what type of shipboard activities they have on this class ship??? I have been on Horizon and Zenith and they had pool side games, parties, as well as other scheduled events (ie putting contests, etc.). As much as I love relaxing poolside, I get antsy with too much sitting! ;) And since a few sea days may be cold, I'm sure hoping there's enough to do besides hit the casino!! Last year we were on Holland America's Veendam and I have to admit it was boring as hell! That was the first cruise ever that I actually read two books cover to cover!!

Hal

Hal,

I'm sure once Howard checks in he'll give you the instructions. He has a website set up with information about the cruise and he has a photo site as well so that we can recognize people when onboard. He'll give you his email to send him a photo and then he'll give you the website and password to get to the photos. Only those that send him a photo can see the photos.

Alex (Beachbuzzard) has arranged for a logo to be printed with Cafe Press and people can order whatever they want from the website if they want to - he'll be repeating that website every now and then too. If you look back a few pages, you will probably see Beachbuzzard's post about Cafe Press.

Hi, This is a sample of the name tags I sort of designed for previous cruises. I changed them with the new information. Unfortunately, I can't upload the original file because it's .docx document and you can't used that format on CC and then I changed it to an acceptable formate and that was too large to post. So, I printed it up scanned it in and shrunk it. If you would like to use this then maybe I can email it to Steve and he could include the templete in he's roll call list. They are 4" x 2 1/2". I can play around with it with the Wild Turkey logo and see what works well.

Although there are lots of folks traveling together, Mike and I are sailing alone for the first time in awhile and are really looking forward to being on our own but looking forward to making new friends as well.
Hard to believe it is mid Aug. Nov. is just around the corner!

Happy Birthday to all you Leos! See that the east coast is getting rain. We in California have our daily sunshine. At least it's staying under a 100.
Pat did you send our photo in to beachbuddy? I can't remember if it was this cruise or another. The one with John (DH) sleeping?
Have to get ready as I'm going to see one of my favorite singers, Michael Buble tonight. Talk to everyone soon.

Elaine

Elaine, I don't think I sent Howard your picture and to be honest I don't think I sent him mine. Sure wish I had a picture of John after he came out of the locker room when he had his Frangipani scalp treatment. Now that was funny.:D Enjoy your concert.

Patty, I went to look for the link for Howard photo page which I still haven't found but I did find a link in one of my favorites for a beach in St. Croix. It is called Sand Castle on the beach. They have day passes for cruise ship passengers. Take a look, someone must have recommended it to me.

Just my three cents - I think Name tags are a great idea.

On a previous cruise (Mercury Dec 2010) there were a lot of CCers, and we all wore Mardi Gras beads - all during the cruise so we could recognize and chat with each other.

Very little rain here and we need it so much!:o

Those name tags are great. Someone made them for our TA cruise last November.

Saw a snorkel trip on bigbeardsdotcom. They will pick up in Fredriksted & bring you to the dock across the island about a 20/25 minute ride. They offer a full day or half day. Full day includes lunch on a beach. We usually don't do full day trips but since it is Thanksgiving Day there might not be much else going on. I'm going to e-mail Big Beards to see if they are running trips that day. Will share as soon as I know.

I think DH saw 6 ships with us in St. Maarten, as he told me "plan accordingly". Traffic will be crazy!!!

Supposed to go to Yankee game today, but it got rained out. Next activity for the week Jimmy Buffett at Jones Beach Friday. Tailgating from noon til showtime will definitely get me in a tropical crusin' mood!

Have fun at the Jimmy B. Concert!!

Let us know what you find out about Big Beards. I'm a little concerned that things might not be open on Thanksgiving Day.

Diane, the name tags are really cute, great job but I'm not sure that everyone has the capability to print them or that they have lanyards to put them in. I was thinking that even just a plain sticky label would be fine for the Connections Party.

Hi all,
Anyway, what does everyone think about wearing name tags at the "Sail-a-Way or at the Connections Party"? Tags with your screen name and tags with your real name.

Let me know what you think? Name tags don't have to be anything fancy, just a sticker will do.

Name tags are great for the Sail-a-way; We had them on our last two cruises. Each person made their own. Many people had lanyards and the people that didn't used stickers. It is very important for the font to be large enough to read from two or more feet away. Both time we put on our screen name, real name and town and state. It is always nice to know where you are from. It helps open up dialog.

Patty

By the way, are there 2 or 3 formal nights???? Anyone know???

So Luigi, I know I didn't answer your question....... but that's how they do it on RCCL. Pat, Mary or any of the other Celebrity cruisers can probably answer much better than me......LOL :D
There is 3 formal nights on a 12 night cruise. 1st full day (Nov. 19th)
Next to last full day (Nov. 28th) and if there is a sea day in the middle of the cruise it is usually on that day; but there isn't one on this cruise so it is hard to tell when that formal night will be.

When we were on our 12-night '07 Thanksgiving cruise on the Explorer of the Seas, we had 7 ports in 7 days when we got down there and there was still a 3rd formal day. I just do not remember which day it was. It definitely was on a port day.

Hi Everyone,

Having 3 formal nights isn't that bad. Last year we were on a 33 day cruise and we had 12 formal nights. I think we cut out of the last 2 it was a bit much. I enjoy them we don't get that much of a chance to dress any more.

Steve has made the name tags for for a few cruises now. Looking forward to having some one else doing it. Its fun to see what everyone comes up with. Beads are a good option also.

We have had so much rain all day. They said about 8-10" so far and still more to come today MONDAY. We really needed it but its just causing so many problems.

Mardi Gras Beads are fine - but I think everyone on board meeting up with their groups will probably have them - but yes, they are cute and don't mind wearing them for our meeting... I think we will outnumber the other groups (if any) anyway...

Welcome to all the newbies - getting excited now - can't wait for this cruise!! carol

Howard, is that the cruise that was so confusing regarding formal nights? It was either that one or the March one that we did. I just remember that they had it posted on a sign as we were leaving and coming back to the ship. So when going thru the check in, you had to see it and everyone was surprised. I'm not even sure we went to dinner that night.......LOL

Most cruises we just wore beads to the sail away. On one cruise we all had to wear something purple and on another cruise we all had to wear a red hat. Beads are the most common........

We have the nicest people on our roll call! :)

Howard, I was starting to get worried about you. Hope you are enjoying the summer.

I was trying to get a handle on how much rain we've actually gotten in Upper Bucks here, but can't seem to find it. I DO know the pool is overflowing. I would say six inches, maybe eight.

I lost the internet yesterday and chalked it up to the storm. (We don't watch tv, or I might've started to suspect when everything was out). After five or six hours I did call to see how much longer, only to find out our box tripped. I never call and I'm so glad I did...the sump pump and a chest freezer are on that same breaker. !!!

That would NOT have been a nice surprise.

At least the chickens like the rain. :)

Summer, thanks for causing trouble ;) After further deliberation with DH, we decided to keep to CC and not go to AQ class. The fare hike was just not justifiable, as we probably would be upgrading *only* for Blu. Once we're onboard, since we're elite, maybe they'll let us "book" for one night as a specialty restaurant :)

As for the formal night discussions, for the past 2 years sailing over Thanksgiving, it has always been that Thursday (Turkey day) has been one of the formal nights, both on Royal and Celebrity. I would surprised if that isn't the case on this 12 nighter, that the 3 formal nights would be the first sea day (the 19th), Thursday (the 24th) and the second to last night (the 28th).

I think the name tags look great, and I am also on board with beads and such... whatever works, although I have to agree with Howard, no feather boas ;)

Hello everyone - well, another rainy day so trying to catch up on all the posts!! Sitting here with my kitty on my lap - makes it a bit difficult to type!! ;)

The name tags are a good idea but we could also wear the T's or sweatshirts, hats, or buttons we purchase? I'm probably going to get a sweatshirt (or a hat) and planned to wear it but will also wear a nametag if that's what's decided.

We're still trying to plan excursions, but my friend Nicki's father has been in the hospital in CCU for the last week and a half with some serious medical issues, and her mother's having surgery on the 26th, so it hasn't been a good time to get together for planning. If all goes well, though, by November she will definitely need this cruise!! I keep hoping and praying things improve - I sure would hate to have to cancel at the last minute. I could always bring my granddaughter at the last minute, but I think she'd enjoy a Royal Caribb cruise more - it has more to do for teens. In any event, I'm getting way ahead of myself and the circumstances. We're still planning ahead as if nothing is wrong.

Welcome to all the new comers - we're growing by leaps and bounds.

Bring on the boas! Just kidding. I don't even wear the beads...there's always at least two or three people wearing those so you can usually pick out the group very easily.

For the price AQ is now, I don't blame you. I'm sure it will drop again. Since we're all being so forthright here (and it seems somehow not as classless as when it's done in person) we had booked at $1899 and it dropped to $1699 and we got that drop. So not a 'huge' difference between the two, I know for 12 days I can't eat rich food every night anyway (or, would "feel" like dressing and doing a 2 hour meal all 12 nights). So that factored in a lot to take that second drop to a lower cabin for the $1299 price.

The drop also completely covers our house/pet sitting. :D

The cabin that is our mirror image is still open, I'm really contemplating booking it for a friend. Decisions, Decisions.

Reading the recent postings, I decided to update the itinerary on the Roll Call spread sheet and have marked the 3 nights that formal attire will be worn.

Currently:
Sat. 19 (1st day at sea)
Thurs. 24 (Thanksgiving)
Mon. 28 (Next to last day at sea)

If this proves to be incorrect, I will change the spread sheet accordingly!

Any one that has true details, please let me know ASAP

Also any suggestions for the spread sheet are welcome!

You should be able to board by 11 am sometimes even earlier. Depends if everyone is out of the ship and the buses are ready to take you to the ship. We usually get there somewhere between 10:30 and 11. Sometimes we have to wait but not for long. You can't get into your room until 1 pm but you can eat lunch at the buffet and explore the ship.

We did not pay anywhere near those prices for our Aqua class cabin. The last price drop we got was lower than what was on the website as our TA problably has us booked in a group. She often passes the money on like that. We also got sizable obcs so for us to stay in Aqua was a no brainer. We like eating at Blu because you can sit down, eat, and get out in an hour. I am sure we all will have a great cruise no matter what cabin we picked. What is not to like with a cruise line like Celebrity.:)

Actually now that I thought about it, the Nov 07 cruise was either the first or 2nd cruise out of Bayonne and they were a bit confused about quite a few things.........I remember they moved the CL to the Dungeon and there was no door to put a card in to get into the room and anyone could have gone in.......LOL I'm sure that's the cruise where they posted the 3rd formal night by the entrance to the ship. We weren't sitting with you at dinner on that cruise.......we were on a table with all people from England.

Howard,
Hmmm, so that's why Carol likes those little booze cups on her beads.........LOL Actually, me and Tony had those booze cups on our March St. Paddy's Day cruise that you didn't join us on.

Mary,
Of course you can wear your boa..... :D So you'll be the one in the blue and white boa.........wonder what color Alex is wearing..........LMAO

My goodness, you guys have been so chatty today!! :-)

I can feel the excitement in the air!!!

Pat

Pat,

We did MTD on our last cruise and it was great because we went to dinner around 7:45 and we really were out of there in an hour. I think that's why we go to the buffet or elsewhere to eat some nights.........sitting there for 1 1/2 to 2 hours is just to much, especially for Tony because his back starts hurting.

No boas for me too - can't stand them - heehee! i like the beads with the little booze cups -

3 formals is fine with me - and yes Patty, I think it was the Nov 07 one that was confusing - no, it was the Mar 09 was -- now I am confused but it's done and over with! ha!ha!

carol

I'm fairly certain it was Nov '07. By Mar '09 we KNEW it was 3 formals on a 12 night and we were telling all those in here that didn't know.

Go back and look at that picture put up of me and Kim at the Nov. '07 sail away. Beads with booze cups. Shocking!!

Patty, I love to eat and run. We don't eat all the courses. Celebrity has some good soups so it is either soup or salad, our main course and some berries for desert. We once sat at a table of 11. We were a big group of 21 sailing together. It took like 3 hours to eat. It was just awlful. That is why I don't like big tables. Last Nov. Rod and I sailed by ourselves which seldom happens and we asked for a table of 2. Always go the first thing on the ship to find the maitre d and find my table. He had us at a table for 6. I told him I asked for a table for 2. Couldn't give it to me that night but the next day a new card was in my room with our new table assignment. First night ate at the buffet and was just as happy. Sitting too long makes my knees hurt just as much as standing too long.

Yep, we had a table for 2 on our last cruise......it really was nice eating and running..........LOL

On our March cruise with Kim, Alex, Dee, John, Carol, Narce and Alex's friends Jim and Carolyn, we all sat together at dinner so there were 10 of us which would have been okay as I've been at large tables before but our waiter,Nicolai, was just the worse one we ever had. We weren't getting out of the dining room till 10:30-11pm every night. We were basically the last ones in the dining room every night. We can't sit that long either so hopefully this time we'll get a good waiter.........there's 8 of us this time unless they fill the table with another couple. I'm keeping fingers crossed that we won't be in there more than one and a half hours..........LOL

true about Narce - he will order 3 entre's - but he says he works it all off - then he'll tell the server to put 2 on the same plate so that it doesn't look too piggish!! ha!ha! but everyone is on to him anyway!

when we go on cruises, just him and me, we always get a table for 2 - and for the reason that he wants to be served pronto, get his food pronto and leave pronto - but I am miss slow eater and he has to wait for me...

but the best table was the mar 09 one - it was the most memorable! saw a Godfather movie the other night with Freido! reminded me of 'the best waiter of RCCL' -

ok - we ALL have to get beads with the booze cups!

even Harold!

so now where's Elaine?

Where do you think they will hold our Meet & Greet or Connections thing? whatever it is called on X ? gosh - hope I signed up!! Or was it said and I wasn't paying any attention again.......

I didn't show up for my last cruise or 2 before then - but I went to my oct one cuz I knew a couple from my CA threads and wanted to chat with them since we have been chatting on CC for about 4 yrs and first time we got to meet in person - we didn't plan the cruise - just happen to be on the same one.

I'll wear some beads but probably won't get John to wear any......although last time I got him to wear green beads.....told him they were for the Eagles! :D

We got hammered with all that rain. We actually got over 10 inches !! Our pool overflowed and water out on the front lawn near the road was over John's knees. Have NEVER seen it like that.

So is Celebrity dressier than RCI? I know about the 3 formal nights but on the other nights in the MDR......dockers with a polo shirt or a nice knit shirt? Or do guys have to wear a sports jacket?? Just wondering......

Dee, Rod wears dockers and a golf shirt all the other nights. Formal night some men wear tuxes, most wear a suit. Used to be more tuxes but in the last year I would say it is more suits. Something about the dining room is supposed to be announced in Sept. Don't know what it is. Maybe they will give up formal nights. Just hope they are not going to charge for dining room food. Hi Margaret,
I have only just read all the posts and see you are from England. It would have been lovely to meet up with you, but who knows, if Celebrity ever sail from Liverpool it would be great because we could even catch a bus from the top of our road over to Liverpool or spend about £12 on a taxi. WOWW!!!!
We would be aids in.
Apparently Celebrity frequently discuss Liverpool as a port to visit but until a full turnaround terminal is built we couldn't join a cruise from there. Plans are in motion for something to be done by I think they said for about 2015.

A lot of cruise liners are starting to visit, Crown Princess, is due back soon and Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary are due very soon.

Everything is so close to the ship you can walk taking in several museums, the new one is rather grand and the Maritime and Beatles Museums are all very close too.

I am sure the cruise lines organise excursions to Chester, Cheshire and North Wales.

I am sure you will have a wonderful cruise with the gang on here, even if some appear to be a "little crazy"

They were thrilled with all the little things I gave them. We collected money at work so they'd have spending money and collected $1,000. Not bad.......they were thrilled!

Summer - yup I agree... not able to justify the price hike to AQ right now :)

As for the tours in St. Thomas, I would definitely be interesting in a boat charter. I was actually looking into that as well! St Marteen, we've been to so many times, and really only like the French side, which is a pain to get to by taxi.. the road across the island is like the LIE during rush hour. I think we're just probably going to stay onboard, maybe splurge and test out the lawn cabanas and hope everyone else gets off the ship :D

Our TA sent us this link, and for St. Thomas, it has some interesting charter trips and stuff. Keep me posted and let me know if there's anything that looks interesting to you guys

https://secure.shoretrips.com/common/search3.asp?rcode=CAR&lcode=STT

On another note, woo hoo, my cafepress order should be here on Thursday. Wild Turkey shirts, magnet and water bottle here we come :D

I gave all my beads to my niece, guess I'll have to make a Party City run before hand ;)
