Due to recent medical complications, we were not sure if we were sailing but Just found out that our 4/14 cruise on the Navigator is a "go" and wanted to know if we can bring our computer on board and have access to it in our cabin.
Also I wanted to update our butler form but I could not find it when I went to Profile or Booked Excursions. Can anyone offer assistance?
Thanks.

Yes there is wifi so bring your computer. Our butler infor was found on our cruise page after logging in. It should list what kind of liquor you requested and other information you furnished.
Good luck and have fun

When you log in under "My Account", there should be a line indicating "Butler Requests". If there isn't, you may want to contact Regent.
As tourguide97 indicated, you can certainly take your laptop on board. However, you will be charged the same rate to use the internet as you would if you were using their computers.

The issue is that you are within a week of your sailing date.
From the butler request link:
"Butler Requests may only be made up until 7 days prior to your cruise."
Certainly no harm in attempting to contact Regent in this regard though.

Hi. I'll be on Navigator in August and need to have quite a bit of internet access time.
What's the rate for internet access through WiFi?
Thanks in advance.

Internet pricing is the same for WiFi as for using the ships computers in the computer center. From our trip last August, they have several rates depending on how many minutes you buy in advance at a time. Believe the rates started at $.50/min. without buying a package and went down from there. Think you could buy 100 minutes for $34 and 250 minutes for $75 but, wait for someone who has been on recently for the current rates which are subject to change by August. I do know, the more minutes you pre-buy, the cheaper the price/minute is.

Is it possible to bring a cord and use the internet in my cabin not wirelessly? I was thinking that this could speed up the connection.

The internet package rates, as of November, 2009 are:
100 Minute Package - $0.45 per minute, i.e. $45
250 Minute Package - $0.35 per minute, i.e. $87.50
800 Minute Package - $0.25 per minute, i.e. $200

There is no wired Internet access in the cabins. It will be a slow connection anywhere on the ship, even the wired computers in the Club. You may find it marginally faster during meals and in the middle of the night. Sorry, Debbie

Interesting. This is an increase. Used to be 1000 mins. for $250.00 (.25/minute.) Of course, after 14 nights cruising it is all free =)

I think they may have changed the eligibility for free internet, too, as it is now 21 days sailed. I noted this particularly as we have 11 days from our recent Caribbean cruise and our next cruise is a ten day Baltic one, so we'll be out of luck on that one, although without our teenager with us, we shouldn't need so much internet time.

Hmmm. Interesting. I hope this doesn't portend of things to come. We run an internet business and haivng free access while onboard is important to us. Our next sailing is in November --- hope they don't push it over 75 nights by then =)

We are wondering if we can get more than one internet connection so that we can use wi-fi on our 2 i-phones and if this will be included in the free internet for which we are eligible. Also does anyone know if you can connect to Skype?

A Skype connection is via internet and I don't know the answer to this one. However, each person qualifies on their own for status (silver, gold, etc.) so there should be no question that you each can connect independently without charge if you are each entitled to this perk. This is not a couples thing =)

The rate per minute is not more expensive unless you need to buy more than 800 minutes. As far back as my first Regent cruise in November 2008, the requirement for Silver status (free internet) has always been 21 days. There have not been any increases in the required number of days for free internet recently.

To be precise, believe the requirement for Silver status is 21 nights. Cruises always have one more day than night as they include the first and last day of the cruise thus a one week cruise is 8 days and 7 nights. Amazing that one week can have 8 days but, since the first day is also the last day of the previous cruise and the last day is the first day of the next cruise, always one more day than night and cruises are considered by the number of nights, not days.
Not really a big deal until you are counting up your nights for the next status level. So, it takes 3 full 1 week (8 days and 7 nights) cruises to make Silver or any other combination totalling 21 nights.

In the interest of being precise and not misleading people who may be counting off the days (nights) until free Internet... On day 22, you do NOT automatically qualify for free Internet (as a current World Cruiser recently learned the hard way). Pasted below is from the rssc.com Seven Seas Society FAQ
Q: If I become eligible for a higher benefit tier while I'm on board, when can I take advantage of the additional benefits?
A: Your new tier benefits take effect at the conclusion of your cruise and will apply for all future sailings with us. If you are on back-to-back sailings, your new tier will take effect at the beginning of the second voyage.

The official policy at the moment is as stated by dfb. However, a mid-cruise society tier upgrade is possible.
I am cruising on the Navigator at the moment. When the cruise began, I had 20 nights of previous Regent cruises. After embarkation, I spoke to the Reception Desk folks and explained that I would have 21 nights after the first day of the cruise and would like to be upgraded to Silver as others had reported. They said such upgrades were handled by the Future Cruise Consultant, took my suite number and said he would call me after the lifeboat drill.
The cruise consultant called as promised and said that because we only needed one more night to move to Silver, he had upgraded us immediately. He said they were making new ID cards at Reception to reflect our upgrade to Silver. I'm using the free internet perk to write this message.
So, the moral of the story is that, regardless of the official policy, it never hurts to ask for an society tier upgrade when you get to 21 nights. :)

Good news, Dave, and congratulations. Too often someone in your situation says nothing to anyone while onbaord, stews about it, and then blasts Regent (or whichever cruise line) after they get home. Thanks for sharing your good news =)

I was able to use Skype on my laptop on the mariner TA without any problem. It was easier to use Skype than bother with using my 'free' telephone time. I tried to avoid typically busy computer times and my calls were relatively short so as not to impact others. But I was pleasantly surprised at the call quality.

FYI, I just received an email from Regent that said "Skype is not available on the Navigator"... is this accurate?... Why would Skype be available on one of their ship's and not another?

I just received a second email from Regent that clarifies the use of Skype on the Navigator...
"Regarding Skype, if you will be taking your own computer onboard and you have Skype downloaded onto it, then you will be able to use it. The Computers onboard can not be downloaded with Skype."

dfb is right -- we have been silver for ages, but moved up to Gold during a trans-Atlantic in 2009. We were Silver for the first cruise segment (FLL to Funchal) and when we came back from visiting Funchal there was a nice letter in our suite saying we were now Gold.
