Hello! Sail, I remember you searching for trays to take to Lido, and I don't know if you found one. Here are some darling trays from Highfashionhome.com that are adorable. They are only $14.00. Hopefully someone can use the info.

They have a meal/brunch/tea time printed on them.:p
Bon Voyage!:D

Dimensions:44 x 1.5 x 32cm
I think that translates to about 18" x .6" x 12"
I hope RuthC also sees this. She, and several others, might like it even though I'm not sure if the size is okay.
I'd have to use a ruler and get a better idea, even though the photos help.

Janie...
This is so thoughtful of you and kind to remember. I got us two trays (from Whole Foods that they use for their salad bar :)) but these are so much more attractive.
I admit I miss trays in Lido and find it very inconvenient without them. I am seriously thinking of bringing trays with us and yours look perfect.
Thank you.

You're sure welcome. I'm ordering the one with the champagne bottle on it! :D

VERY nice trays, tjcletsgo! Thanks so much for posting about them. I'm ordering two and will be glad to have them to use in the Lido. Plus, when we have Neptune Lounge access, we use the small silver ice bucket tray to bring the snacks back to our cabin - but I'm thinking I'll like this much better.

Those trays are great! I am ordering two: the one with the champagne bottle on it for me, and the one with the newspaper on it for DH. I wish we could have them for use on our T/A next week, but I know we'll enjoy using them on the Westerdam in August! They will fit just perfectly in the bottom of our suitcases. We'll pile the clothes on top!! :D
Thanks again so very much!! :)

Thanks for thinking of me. I do like them; they are really pretty.
When I was sorting through the debris in my cellar I found an attractive hostess tray set my mother had given me decades ago; never used them. The largest tray in the set is a perfect size for cruises, and has already been added to my packing list.

I haven't been on a HAL cruise since they've got rid of trays. Is everyone really serious about bringing a tray to the Lido? If any of you have, what was the response from staff and other passengers? Maybe I'll have to add this to my list of items to pack next month. Or, I can balance the plate on my head.....

I'm sure serious! I've been on two cruises since the new policy. The first cruise was 7 days, right after the policy came down. I snagged a (large) room service tray the first morning. When the Lido supervisor saw me with it, he offered to trade it for a regular size one. I kept that for the duration of the cruise.
The second cruise I was not able to get a tray to use, and it caused difficulty. That won't happen again.
On one of those cruises, I'm guessing the second one, there was someone with his own tray; I saw a label with his name and cabin number on the bottom of it. I saw no one interfere with him using it.

Thanks Ruth. I will now add a tray to my list:)

I have brought a smaller tray on a cruise, but only used it when I was designated to do a coffee run for 6 of my cruisemates. It came in handy and did not take a lot of packing space.

I'm glad you saw this thread. Relieves my mind. ;) I'm delighted to know that you found a tray perfect for your use.
I've been okay without a tray, but I'm thinking this is a good conversation starter. I usually eat lunch in the Lido by myself since hubby prefers to be waited on so eats in the MDR. He always asks for a shared table so he's rarely by himself. Occasionally in the Lido I'll ask a solitary diner if they want company, but I'm never sure so rarely ask. With one of these trays I think someone would stop to chat and stay to eat. :)

I took a tray on our last cruise and there were no derogatory remarks - the crew commented on the tray positively and told me to bring it every time I ate in the Lido. Many people asked where I got it as they wanted one too.
My tray is out to be packed up again for our cruise on the 27th - never thought of putting our name and cabin # on the bottom of the tray - not a bad idea - though I don't think it will go astray as we never let it out of our sight!

I was one of those who was concerned about not trays in the Lido, too. But we found on our recent Noordam cruise that we did just fine without them. I have an advantage in that my DH eats much faster than I do and is willing to go back and get more goodies and to share "tastes" with me.
We also had no trouble with having our table cleared prematurely. We simply left our key cards or other stuff to indicate we were still using the table. A couple of times we leaned the chairs forward over the table when we both were going back up to the serving lines. One of the service staff even pointed out this method to another passenger at a nearby table.

I happen to collect trays. Love them! Typically they are my souvenir item when I can find them.
The advantage of packing a tray (if you have a soft sided suitcase) is that the tray will help to protect other things that you've packed.
With the suggestions from this bunch of folks, I'll take a tray from home in case I don't find new ones to buy along my way. Thanks!

Why bother spending money on trays that only take up paking space. Just order a snack from room service on the first evening and keep the tray for the week.

Or, HAL could start selling trays in the gift shop for those who want one. Does $9.99 sound good:rolleyes:

The tray from room service tends to be larger, by far, than the ones that used to be in the Lido. They are difficult to store out of sight in the cabin due to their size, and are heavy, too.
A solution, yes, but not the best one.

I'm all for HAL selling really interesting trays in the gift shop. Good idea!
The room service trays are big, heavy and UGLY!
Bring on the Tray People! Should we have a club and perhaps a signature tray of our own?

That one, although better than no tray, is too big, bulky, and HEAVY.
