does the veendam have music piped ito the cabin like maasdam and zaandam did? it was so nice to have a little mood music at times.

Many of the ships will have different music options on the TV. There will be a dictory in your cabin as to whre you can get music -- channels.

on maasdam and zaandam, a couple years ago anyway, there was a separate channel controlled by a switch on the headboard that was not from the tv so I could watch the bow cam on the TV and have music. i was hoping that is still the case.

The radio control on the headboards are gone from all the ships.

I miss them as I used to like to be able to tune in the announcements from the bridge but now cannot get them. Then again...... do they come through on the TV? I don't think so.

I know they can announce into the cabins in an emergency but they do not have the daily Voice from the Bridge.
On the other hand, I DOn't miss Bingo announcements.

The headboard radio was still there when I sailed the Rotterdam last October/November, but I suspect it may be gone now, as the cabins were totally renovated. I liked finding it there as I could listen to the radio programming I liked, while still having the ocean camera I preferred.

I believe that one of the TV stations that has music also carries the announcements. Problem for me is that it isn't the music I want on the rest of the time. When I hear an announcement in the passageway, I switch stations quickly. Sometimes it's easier to dash and open the door.

We open the door also. It's a trade off. We lost the bingo announcements which is a good thing :) but we lost Voice from the Bridge etc

If this is my biggest problem :), all is well.

I used to like it when we had the actual radios -- I always kept ours on channel 5 -- thus we got the announcements.
