Hi,

Well it's time to start looking again at a solo cruise for Dec, 2005. There are so many cruises out there I am having a hard time figuring out which to go with. I have found an interesting HAL cruise, but have some questions about the two room categories.

Here is the Itinerary for Dec 11-18:

DeparturePort: Fort Lauderdale, Florida RT
Ports of Call: At Sea;Cozumel, Mexico;Fort Lauderdale, Florida;Georgetown, Grand Cayman;Half Moon Cay, Bahamas;Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Option #1:

Category SS - Suite
Superior Verandah Suites: 2 lower beds convertible to 1 queen size bed, sofa bed for 1, bathroom with dual sink vanity, full-sized whirlpool bath and shower and additional shower stall, VCR, floor-to-ceiling windows.
1st Passenger $1,649.00 (not including taxes and fees)

Option #2:

Category S - Suite
Deluxe Verandah Suite: 2 lower beds convertible to 1 king size bed, bathroom with dual sink vanity, full-size whirlpool bath and shower and additional shower stall, large sitting area, dressing room, private verandah, one sofa bed, VCR, floor-to-ceiling windows.
1st Passenger $2,378.60 (not including taxes and fees)

What is the difference between the two? Also are either of these prices good for a solo cruiser.

Thanks

I gather that your are looking at the Westerdam's Dec. 11th cruise - is that right? If so, where did you get those prices?

According to HAL's web site the prices for a solo cruise are

S - $4101 with air and $3642.50 without air - incl. taxes

SS - $2983.80 w/a and $2525.30 without air - inc. taxes

The SS suite is about 3/4's the size of an S. Suite and is lovely, however you do not get the amenities, like free laundry, use of the Neptune Lounge, priority boarding, tendering, disembarking that you do in an S suite.

If the prices you quoted are for a solo cruiser, then I would think they are good. We paid a lot more for 2 of us in an SS on the Westerdam recently.

Esme,

You are correct. I am talking about the Westerdam's Dec. 11th cruise.

I am working with a TA who came highly recommended as someone who can get single cruisers great deals to over come that bad single supplement.

I sent an e-mail asking here out of curiousity how she is able to get such good deals.
