We have stayed at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel several times.

It's the Pink Hotel on the beach.

...at the Hawaii Port of Call board for some suggestions.

There's plenty of restaurants along the beach if you'd like to 'beach it' for lunch. "Duke's" is great for lunch (the Hula Pie is great) however there's no 'cement pond', just public beach.

I'd also recommend sunset cocktails at the "House Without a Key" (in the Halekulani Hotel complex). A former Miss Hawaii performs hula dancing nightly while the sun sets and Diamond Head is in the background.

A few pictures of the "House Without a Key" can be found on my Picasa site (below my signature). Just go to the 1-12-10 Hawaii folder and then scroll down towards the bottom for some serious sunset cocktails and hula dancing.

Have a WONDERFUL CRUISE!

Bon Voyage & Good Health!
Bob:)

I agree that "Hawaii ports of call" is a great place to look. Many recommendations for hotels. Are you asking about a hotel where you will not stay but just swim and have lunch? That is something very different from a hotel to stay at on Waikiki with a pool. I have noticed on my recent two visits that the hotels seem to have increased their security personnel to prevent non-guests from using the pools. I think swimming in Waikiki is absolutely fabulous if you are not going to stay. And you can then have lunch at a number of great restaurants. Cherie

In the 1980's--remember those ancient days?--I used to stay at the Pacific Beach Hotel but I am not sure it would work for you. It is right acroxx from the Beach and just to the Honolulu side of the Hawaiian Regent. Those were in the days of the Kodak Hula Show in Kapiolani Park.

The Halekulani is the best on the beach, with some very nice restaurants. You can have lunch there, but the pool is only for hotel guests (they check!)
