Thank you, LocalLady and DFD1. We will have two laptops, digital camera, extra cards... all of the things we need to keep in touch, so we'll try to post to the boards from time to time on the sea days.
We really hadn't planned on a cruise of such a grand scale until a brochure showed up in the mail last July. I looked at it a few times, kept thinking about it and finally showed it to Slinkie and asked her if she thought she would like to do this. I think her answer set a new world record for the shortest time between a question and a reply:D
We originally booked an A Category, but just after final payment our TA said that HAL was offering an upgrade to an SS for a fraction of what it would have been if we had booked that cabin originally. Too bad they didn't offer a deal on an S or PS:rolleyes: We decided that the SS, being a larger cabin and larger bathroom would be worth it, even though there are few differences in the amenities.
Just a couple of days and we'll be on our way:D

localady, how'd you ever beat out Ziggy to post first! :D
Yes, yes, yes. Bon Voyage to all you lucky people who are taking a cruise most of us can't begin to dream of. I'll be looking forward to whatever tidbits from the cruise you are willing to toss my way.

I'll add my thanks to DH Grumpy's. I promise to take notes along the way and post here as we go. This is our first cruise on a HAL ship and we know it won't be perfect, but whatever comes along will be another adventure. There are so many nice people who will be onboard with us, some getting on when we do and others boarding later as we stop in various ports. It's all so exciting!
I doubt that anyone wants to hear about lumpy pillows, squeaky doors, or the coffee pot empty in the Lido buffet, so I'll try to focus on the things that were good, fun and pleasant about the cruise, the ship and the ports we visit.
I understand that the scheduled ports in the Indian Ocean where the tsunami damage was extensive are still on the itinerary, and I'm sure it will be educational to see how the people of those areas have rebuilt over the months.
Thanks again to everybody at CC who has made our countdown over the months so much fun. For the shared experiences, the advice posted and even the fun games, I'm very thankful.

Slinkie, Grumpy and any others on this amazing cruise, have an absolutely heavenly time! You are going to be so happy in the "SS" ... especially for such a long voyage you'll love the extra room.
Be safe, be happy, be relaxed ... and most of all don't forget us. We will miss you here.
Bon Voyage ... have a very special journey, my friends.

I also want to add my good wishes to everyone going on the World Cruise. I am sure the Prinsendam will be in tip top condition after her time in dry dock.
Slinkiecat and Grumpy you will enjoy your S.S. We had one on the Black Sea cruise. I asked our steward to bring a lounge for the balcony which he did. There is plenty of room for the two chairs and table plus the lounge if you want it. Sometimes it is nice to lay back and watch the ocean going by.
I hope you enjoy your time in our country and hope that the day you dock in Geelong it will be a perfect day like today - 27C (84F).

We expect to have a wonderful time in Australia. Our first port there is Sydney, where we are meeting a pair of online friends for the first time. We have several other stops including both sides of the continent. I know it won't be enough to get to know the country, but it should be fun and educational.

And while in Hong Kong on the Mach 11 to 13 weekend, do consider an early morning close-up viewing (6 ft. from me last time) of the two giant pandas at the Ocean Park, Aberdeen, among others.... Have a wonderful sailing. (Kam)
