DH booked Nieuw Amsterdam for Nov. 7 2010. If I'm reading it correctly, this will be the last sailing for this itinerary. Do you think this wouldn't be a wise choice for a cruise? I sailed HAL before, but DH has not. I wanted him to experience HAL, (my favorite cruise line) and it so happens to be his birthday week for this sailing. But if the cruise will be compromised because of her changing itineraries, I will choose another cruise. Any thoughts???

I see no reason why you should cancel your cruise.
The Nov 7 itinerary is also offered on Nov 21.

Ships change itineraries all the time at the end of the summer and winter seasons. I wouldn't worry a bit about being on the last-of-season or the repositioning cruises. It's often a good chance to buy some bargain stuff for the season that is ending. :)

It is not the last cruise of the season - and it should be great!

Your ship returns to Port Everglades from Europe on 11/7/10. The prior cruise is a 20/32 day Transatlantic. The cruise you are booked on is in fact the FIRST cruise of the Caribbean season from FLL for the Nieuw Amsterdam. Enjoy!

As the ship will have just arrived in the US for the very first time it is likely that boarding may be delayed. Coast Guard, customs, homeland security, and immigration inspections will all need to be done.
I think the "Birthday" timing would outweigh this concern and I would stick with this cruise - but I would relax at my hotel and not rush to be an early boarder at 11:30. Go up around 2:00 and things will likely be just fine.
I would love to take this same trip - but am really hoping to do the Panama Canal this fall!

We're getting off on the 7th after 20 days. Will leave this "nieuw" ship in great shape for you.
