I just booked what is called a NE/C 14-day "Discovery" or (as it was called last night) "Discovery Collector's" cruise for June 2011.

In reality, it's no different from the usual b2b 7-day I usually take, but my TA says the price is lower. The Discovery is the same two 7-day b2b's, but with one booking number and with the same "up only" or "down only" pax onboard.

My TA and I agreed that the only discovery people will have is the ports are the same on the second segment of the cruise!

Anybody know what this is about? Could it be a marketing device to advertise the possibility of a 14-day cruise rather than people thinking of a 7-day b2b? It sure looked nice to me, even though it's the same cruise I take every year.

For the last couple of years HAL has been offering "Collector Cuises" in the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe.

You do get a bit of savings by booking the back-to-back cruises as one cruise. We have done it a few times.
