This is an unusual request. While on the Veendam 11/5/04-11/12/04, the ship stopped in Guatemala. While there my parents shopped at the ship recommended Jade place. This store was set up in tent right at the port. They purchased many beautiful Jade pieces, and paid with their credit card. It is now two months later and the charge has never hit their card. We can not seem to locate the name of the shop or any literature amongst their purchases. (My mother likes to throw "clutter" away.) They feel terrible as they realize that the amount of money they spent would be a small fortune to this store.

I had also purchased items (not jade) from various local shop keepers. I also paid by credit card, however these charges were made from a single location with a representative from VISA. All of my purchases showed on my November credit card statement. If any one remembers the name of this shop or has any way we can try and find out who they were, we would like to contact them and have them reprocess the sale. Obviously we wish to contact the right store.

Thanks in advance for your help.

There is the possibility that the charges will still show up on the credit card. I have had charges come through up to 4 months after the purchase date. You could also check with your credit card company to see if the charges have been posted since your last statement.

We have checked with the credit card company. They said that they had no record of the charge being made. They are unable to contact the company on our behalf and ask them to charge the card. My mother is still looking for the charge slip.

If the store is a ship-recommended one, then wouldn't HAL have the information you need?
Since they make up maps listing all their recommended stores in ports, they should have the info.

Thank you for the suggestion to call HAL. I didn't think of it myself. I called HAL and was given the name of the store Jades SA. They also told me that the store can sometimes take up to 6-8 months to batch out their sales. Therefore, it is too early to panic. I have located their phone number and their store information. We will put it aside and wait and see if the charge shows up. If not we will call to have the charge resubmitted. My father feels better knowing this piece of info.

The company that handles all contact with HAL's guaranteed vendors is the PPI Group. Any problems or questions concerning these shops are to be given directly to PPI. I had a problem with a purchase and HAL Customer Service told me I had to contact PPI for help. I would think that if you give PPI the details they will be able to identify where your purchase was made and possibly even solve your problem directly.

Phone PPI at: 1-888-774-4769 or
Email: HalService@PPIgroup.com

I still think the best thing to do is wait. Some stores are just slow posting their sales.

Thank you for all the information. After talking to HAL, I think I will wait a little longer to see if the purchase posts. I will however keep the contact info for PPI to see if they can help.
