View Full Version : Ordering Alcohol for your Cabin

On our last cruise on the wonderful Westerdam, we were able to order, in advance, alcohol to be delivered to our cabin for our use in the cabin. We are cruising on Carnival for our daughter's high school graduation with several other families, and I assumed we would be able to do the same on Carnival. As of this morning this is no longer true. Does anyone know if this new policy also applies to Holland America, since it it owned by Carnival? One thing is for sure, this will be my first and last cruise on Carnival. I graduated from high years and years ago, and don't need to be treated as if I am still there, especially while on vacation. Oddly enough, this new policy does not extend to wine or champagne. Therefore, they are only discriminating against those who prefer a cocktail to the afore mentioned libations.

Just checked. Bottles of alcohol are still available on the gifts page for my cruise next year. Hopefully that won't change since I ordered a bottle of vodka for hubby.

Yes you can still order bottles of alcohol for your cabin -- no changes -- yet.

I appreciate your responses. I called the Bon Voyage Department at Carnival this morning and was told of this new policy. I was assured, however, that we can still order a bottle from room service once on board. I can also assure you that this will be my one and only cruise on Carnival. Next time we cruise, we're coming home to HAL !

A message came out at around 11:30 this morning from Carnival saying a "miscommunication" had caused their Bon Voyage Department to cease the sale of bottles of liquor over the past two days. So everything seems to be back to normal and my libation will be waiting in our cabin when we board for our daughter's graduation cruise. Thanks again for answering my question here. I just thought you might like the update. Have a great day all!

Just off the Noordam, no problem with room orders of alcohol.

I went to the HAL website and logged into the gifts website and clicked on the order form. I just do not see bottles of liquor -- just wine. What am I doing wrong?

I go to the HAL website and put my mouse over the "For Booked Guests" tab. That causes a drop-down menu to appear. Click on "Onboard Gifts". I have to log into my account (user name & PW) then it takes me to a screen with my and hubby's names. I check the box next to one of them then click on "Choose Gifts". That takes me to a screen with various gift choices, one of them being "Beverages". When I click on that, it takes me to a list of wines, beers, and liquors to select from.
Is that what you did?

The list that is shown on HAL's website doesn't show everything that is available.
That is why so often we call Ship Services at 1-800-541-1576.

Questionhttp://boards.cruisecritic.com/images/icons/icon5.gif........ I did order a bottle for my room, the last time I cruised HAL. The bottle wasn't finished so I had to leave it being I was flying back home. This trip I will be taking a train. Would anyone know if I could take any unused portion off the ship back home?
Thanks

Why not? The only prohibition I know of is the amount of liquids in carry-ons on a plane. Some states have a prohibition against open liquor bottles in the body of a car, but in the trunk is all right.
