Great. There will be pirate watches in the Persian Gulf and torpedo watches in the Yellow Sea. Should make for an interesting cruise.

I currently live in South Korea and I am leaving for my cruise in Rome. I can tell you that the tensions are inflated from the US media. Here, everything is calm and running smoothly. My friends in the US military (in SK) aren't worried and don't think anything will happen (soon at least). First, in SK, there are elections on June 2nd, so nothing will happen before then. After that, we'll see, but right now, there is really nothing to worry about. That happened 2 months ago and that ship was close to the NK border. I wouldn't be too concerned at this point.

If I were booked on the Brilliance I might be concerned with them torpedoing random ships. Last thing we need is another Lusitania.

Would North Korea attack a ship with US citizens?

Well, they haven't done so since they shot at and caputured the USS PUEBLO in international waters January 1968.

And you're correct, the US press is a sucker for North Korean propaganda.

In 1945 an airplane crashed into the Empire State Building. To the best of my knowledge no more planes crashed into a New York skyscraper for another 56 years.

So, just because it has been 42 years doesn't mean it will not happen again.
