I am looking to buy either a Category A or Category B Verandah Suite.

The Category A suites appear to be under the Lido restaurant which serves Breakfast and Lunch. I am wondering....will the A cabins be noisey due to all the activity above? My travel agent says she has never heard of anyone complaining about an A category cabin.

Or would B category (one deck down) be better?

Also, what are the chances of upgrading to the Deluxe Suite at the Concierge deck on the day of boarding? I realize that there is almost $ 1000 diffference per person right now. But on the day of sailing, will they break down and offer a discount to upgrade?

Anyone stay in an A or B Cabin? They seem awfully nice!

As far as upgrading, the S suites usually sell out well ahead of sailing, so if you want a suite go ahead and book it now.

We've stayed in A's & B's and have never heard anything from the Lido. Only difference between these cabins is location.

Well .... If I were buying again, I would book a cat "b". We booked an "A" last spring on Veendam {same layout as Maasdam} only to find that there is an overhanging section of the lido directly overhead... and yes , we could hear chairs being moved around.Paying more for less , although a very short walk to aft deck pool was nice

We were on the Maasdam in Nov. and upgraded to a B 4 days before sailing and LOVED it. I am hooked on balconies. The extra space in the sitting area was wonderful. I am ready to cruise again.

I cut out an article from a cruise magazine some years ago re buying the best cabins and they suggested on a HAL ship to go for a B instead of an A as the price difference wasn't worth the higher deck seeing the cabins are both the same size.

Can you tell me if the balconies have lounge chairs on them or just regular chairs? The book shows one of each.

Gateway.. the suites have both. I don't know about Verandah. I was under the Lido near the salad bar. We just heard the carts being rolled across the floor during the day. It stopped early enough in the evening that it was never a problem.
