We are thinking of taking Veedam's long repositioning cruise from Rio to FLL (eventually). The Noordam had a terrific library as part of the Explorations Cafe setup, including free internet access to the New York Times. Since then this setup supposedly has been adopted fleet-wide.
How is Veendam's -- and Zaandam's?

Veendam's plus Zaandam's libraries are part of their Explorations Cafe located on Upper Promenade Deck (not in the Crow's Nest as on Noordam). Nice location/good library!

Noordam's Exploration Cafe / Internet / Library are not located in the Crow's Nest.

They are located on the Starboard Side on the Promenade Deck.

I'm pretty particular about what I read, but have found excellent books that meet my criteria on every HAL ship I've sailed. I can't imagine anyone not being satisfied with the libraries.

Good luck with that! All three of her sisters have it up there:cool:Yeah, but all three sisters got the major stern re-fit at the time the E.C. was moved, and that won't be possible for the Noordam. The Oak Room is pretty much wasted space, though. I've never seen anybody using it in three cruises on the N.

I thank all respondents. I now don't have to worry about bringing books with me. On our two cruises on the Noordam, we found the selection to be wide-ranging and up-to-date (probably because the ship was new). I don't remember where Exploration cafe was located -- certainly not in Crow's Nest -- but the library gave much joy on sea days.

Only time will tell!;)
