I posted a similar message under Port of Call but thought I would ask here also. Has anyone taken a HAL Rome 3 or 4 night precruise package & if so, what did you think of it? Thank you. :)

We did a 4-night pre-cruise package in Rome in 2006 and enjoyed it. On ours, they did not have tours/excursions to fill every day, except one, which was an all day trip up to Tuscany. On that day trip we visited San Gimignano, Siena and Pisa. We had a couple of short tours included and transfers from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the ship. We liked the free time to see Rome on our own. The hotel was very nice and conveniently located just west of the Tiber River and within walking distance of the Vatican and St. Peter's. Hope this helps. :)

A few summers back we spent two nights pre-cruise in Rome at a hotel booked through HAL. In making the arrangements, we were initially offered a choice of hotels that in my opinion were too expensive. I called HAL to ask if there were alternative choices and was then confirmed (through HAL) in a very nice hotel at a more reasonable price that included the transfer to Livorno the morning of our sailing.

Hi trav,

Rome is a city that is very easy to visit.

What is on the itinerary that interests you?

You could probably DIY for less.
