Just wanted to let everyone know we are 15 miles away from the dam and so far they are only evacuating to 5 miles away. Our house is up off the ground about 3 ft. so if it does break, we should'nt have too much damage, but it looks like they have a plan to keep it from breaking till they can fix it. If it breaks alot of people will be homeless, sort of a mini tsunami eeeeks.

Thanks for the emails! We are ok so far :)

Hi Ziggy, we are just a few miles from Prado dam but uphill so we are safe. Hope you stay safe yourself. Happy sailing!

Ziggy and all Orange County Board members,

We are thinking of you all, what a worry. We have had horrendous bushfires with quite a loss of life and you are having so much rain and mud slides that the dams aren't coping. What a terrible start to 2005.

I think the world has slipped off its axis! What with the fires in Australia, floods in Ca and Ut. and the horrendous floods we are going through in Ohio I am thinking I`d better read the book of Revelation again! What a start to 2005! I leave for a month in England on the 25th, can`t wait to see what the weather in Europe is doing!.....jean

In Moscow they're complaining about how warm it is! The Times just ran a story headlined "Europe basks in an early spring (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1440620,00.html)"

I was in the area yesterday on business on the south side of I-91 looking down at the golf course that is just below the dam. The dam floodgates were wide open to reduce as much pressure as possible and the golf course was very wet with a lot of standing water.
The good news is that as of last night the dam leak was almost sealed and they felt they had it under control.

Sage,

Thank you for your prayers. We are in the city so we are not near the bushfires. They were about 180 miles away in the country. Hopefully they are now under control and will stay that way.

Today in Australia was a day of rememberance for all the Tsunani victims. We had a minutes silence at 11.59am and I think all our flags were at half mast. The Australian public have raised many millions for the 12 countries affected and hopefully the aid is getting to them now.
