My brain is fried. too much time on these boards;)
I can't seem to get it straight in my mind if the Lido is buffet or table service.
Can someone take pity, and straighten me out?
TANX:)

Buffet breakfast and lunch, and semi-buffet the last time we ate dinner there. For dinner we carried our own salad, rolls, drinks, and dessert, while the entrees which we ordered were brought to us when they were ready.

Breakfast -- all buffet.
Lunch -- all buffet.
Dinner -- on most ships -- especially the Vista class ships -- all buffets. A few ships will bring your entree to you -- but everything else you have to get yourself.

Ours was buffet for breakfast and lunch (and 'midnight' snack) last week on the Rotterdam. We didn't have dinner in the Lido at all, but as far as I know it is completely buffet style also.

Can someone please help me with another question about the Lido - does one have to wear the casual smart dress as well or can one 'come as they are'?
Thanks!

Thanks! In "the evening" (and I'm not sure exactly what time that starts) there should be no shorts, "printed" tee shirts, tank tops, bathing suits, etc in the restaurants or other public areas ... but you'll find that's widely ignored, and not enforced.
Quote: Evening dress falls into two distinct categories; Formal or
Smart Casual. Smart Casual can be defined as slacks and
sports shirt or sweater for men and skirt or trousers and
sweater or blouse for women. Printed T-shirts, swimsuits,
tank tops and shorts are not allowed in the restaurants or
public areas during the evening hours.

Those who dine for dinner in the Lido definitely do not follow the dress code for the evening.
Dinner in the Lido is from 5:30 - 8 PM on the majority of the ships. It is closed on the nights that the ship has the BBQ.

We've had most dinners in the lido on our last two cruises plus a few times on previous cruises. Most people are neatly dressed. Most are probably in the just below to lower end of the casual dress code while a few are a litte more below or are smarter casual. J jr. and I usually wear jeans and knit tees (not printed t shirts) or polos. We wear what we've worn during the day except we wouldn't wear shorts and we'd change a dirty or otherwise unsuitable top.
We're not sure how we'll handle lido dressing on our Canal cruise. I'm guessing after a hot humid day we'll want to change before dinner.
For Canalettos we wear smart casual.

Dinners in the lido are very pleasant and have the same or almost the same menu as the MDR. The entree is sometimes served or more often it will be handed to you at the buffet. We really like the lido for dinner because we can see the food, mix and match, ask for less or more, fix our own salads. get courses when and as we want them and get drink refills ourselves. There is a wine steward and he is easier to find than in the MDR.
