Our ship is in St. Thomas 8:00 am till 11:00 pm, I've searched the threads, however havn't found activities after 5:00pm. Any night time must see places/activities?

When are you sailing? I think my March 12 Zuiderdam sailing only stays at St Thomas until 9pm.

Well I guess the sun is up longer at that time of the year. When I sailed last March we didn't leave until 11:00 and it was very nice getting to watch the other two ships that were parked in back of us pull out with all of their lights on. St Thomas is very peaceful at that time of the night, compared to the confusion during the day. Some people just go out and walk around at that time of the night...some decide to have dinner off the ship as well.

Would strongly recommend if you leave the ship, take a cab to a large hotel. Don't recommend walking off Havensight.

The area not far from the pier is a high crime area.

And nighttime can be VERY dangerous.

Mariner - I was just going to say the same thing. Do NOT walk around on your own as I have been told that crime is very high in St. Thomas. The one time we did stay late in St. Thomas we found there was lots to do on the ship.

Esme,

Where the old pink hotel used to be near Havensight (Sheraton, I think), a tourist got robbed, shot and killed about four years ago!

That's why most ships head for sea by 6 p.m.

Can remember the days in St Thomas when we piled into cabs and headed for a banana daquirii after late seating. Also walked into town at night!

There also was a time when we were in St. Thomas along with the France, QE2, Rotterdam and one other ship. We cleaned out all the liquor stores. But at least we stayed overnight and could shop again another day.

Times sure have changed.

The tram to Paradise Point (tram at Havensite) is open till 7P on Tuesday and 9P on Wed. I understand they have a live band up there on Wed. and you can get a tram-dinner deal. It is supposed to be a great place to watch the sunset.
