Do we need to carry a hair dryer on the Westerdam, booked a SS suite. Heard on the boards that the one provided is weak and in a bad location (non-bathroom). Thanks.

All true! The hairdryer is in the cabinet below the desk and I found it to be pretty weak (lilke your average hotel hairdryer).

The hairdryer in our SS on the Westerdam was in the right hand drawer of the dresssing table, not in a cabinet under the desk. It was fine - I have short hair and my daughter has thick shoulder length hair and she had no complaints.

The hair dryers in our two cabins on the Westerdam were equally poor. Very little luke warm air is produced. It is also in a poor location, and not in the bathroom on the wall (even though there appears to be plenty of room for a wall mount.)

First time we never took our own dryers, and it will be the last.

Same here... :(
And more to consider -- the cord doesn't stretch overly much, and the dryer was particularly awkward for my 6' hubby to use because of that. The lighting is also much better in the bathroom than at the desk.
Next time I'll be bringing my own again...

The lighting may be better in the bathroom, but there's no plug for a dryer in the bathrooms! At least, last time I was aboard one of HAL's ships.

The hair dryer in our S suite was located in the top drawer of the dressing room table area. It worked well for me, but I have short hair. My daughter, who has long hair, did not like it. I agree, though, the cord was very short.

I do remember seeing a plug in the bathroom and there was also a plug in the dressing room area.

The plug in the bathroom is for electric razors only. Safety issue, I guess.
