Carnival stop in Key West /oil spill

Do the cruise ships sail thought the oil? Don't know of another way to sail to Bahamas via Key West in Feb.

Is there media somewhere saying oil has reached the Keys? If so, they are dead wrong.

The BP oil is nowhere near the Keys.

I have not heard or read ANY reports that state the oil has reached the Keys. We were in Key West for several days last week and the water was gorgeous.

I guess I did not state my question well. There is oil between New Orleans & Key West. Will the ships sail though oil between the 2 areas if that is the only way to get there or do they take another route?

Gotcha! Carnival's ship out of NO (Triumph, is it?) has been warned if they cruise through oil, they will not be permitted to port in KW. So, far, it has not been an issue. They have been able to go around the areas of the massive slicks.

Wow, this had not occurred to me. We are sailing from Texas on the Conquest over to Key West and the Bahamas, so I guess it would be a similar situation. I wonder how the ships avoid the oil?

You have nothing to worry about. The route from Texas to Key West goes nowhere near the oil.
