Thanks for the Report Lisa. I am the 53rd person to look at this thread--so far! The Volendam is now docked at the main dock in Skagway. She backed in again. I wonder is that the Captain's call or does the Harbor Master make that call? I wonder. The Rotterdam is now docked at the Elliott Bay Dock. The next time she docks there next week I will embark her for a week in beautiful Alaska. I hope it is a little warm there.

I have been told by several Captains that is it is Harbor Master that tells them how they are to dock, many reasons for the difference is the winds and the under currents. A place like Skagway is especially dangerous and the winds can change quickly, so the Harbor Master may know what the wind conditions may be for later when they will be leaving.

I wish you a Bon Voyage, this will be the first year in many years that I will not make it up to Alaska, I was to cruise on the Rotterdam in September but chose to try another cruise line in the Caribbean :o

OK got the Seattle web cam to work now.
It looks like a cloudy gloomy day in Seattle. They have not had the best of weather this year like they did last year.

Lisa:

I will let everyone know of my impressions of the Rotterdam since she had her extreme makeover earlier this year. I finally got all the Masses covered while I am gone and I have started to pack. I will fly out of Midway on Friday afternoon and arrive on Southwest.
I am looking forward to this one very much.
