To keep expenses down, I generally book an interior cabin. However, since I'll be at sea on the Noordam for 23 days, I thought I'd book a category H (obstructed view) hoping that I would at least have some daylight in the cabin. Has anyone on this board been in a Cat. H on the Noordam or other Vista-class ship? Thanks.

We were in an H on the Eurodam, which are the same. You'll have plenty of light, as they have floor-to-ceiling windows.

There was a thread not long ago on which I posted pics. I'll find it and come back to edit here.

Here's a thread with pictures. It started out about G's, but strayed to H and HH. They only differ in how much hardware is outside the window anyway. :)

I'll just have to remember not to inadvertently entertain the crew if they're working on equipment outside the window!!!

It's a floor to ceiling window with stuff in the way. No matter what you'll be able to get natural light and see what the weather's doing. Room configuration is also a little different than typical oceanview rooms. I love them personally.

Room configuration is also a little different than typical oceanview rooms.I presume by this that you mean they're set up like a veranda room, with the head of the bed on the side wall. That's what we had in our Eurodam H, but on the the Eurodam all outsides have the room that way. I'm hoping that whatever outside we get on the Nieuw Amsterdam (gty) is the same too!

OT: I'm noticing that some people are already calling the Nieuw Amsterdam the "new Amsterdam". I wonder how long before they start asking where the "old Amsterdam" is going! :)

My kids have stayed in H cabins on Vista ships, as have my mom and sister.
All of them enjoyed them - preferred them to inside cabins.
They didn't care that the view was obstructed - they were happy to get some natural light into the cabin. Makes a big difference.

My sister and mom always booked inside cabins, but once they had an H, they never wanted an inside cabin again!

That's been happening on and off at the HQ for months
