Just opened our email and found an invitation from our TA to go aboard the Celebrity Summit for a tour and luncheon when it is in Saint John on August 19. How do you think I replied? Ha Ha ---- I have never whipped my passport out of storage so fast in my life.
I saw the list of others the email was sent to as well, and since this is a small area, we know most of them----- so it should be a great time.

I volunteer and contribute to a non-profit here in Seattle. Each year HAL lets us have a lunch/show/"tour time" on a ship on a day when it's ending/starting a cruise. We generally board around 10:30 am and have to be off by 2. They hold our driver's license or passport in case any of us want to be stowaways :).
My first time on a cruise ship was via this route, and it got me interested in signing up for my first cruise. I really enjoyed the hour or so of free time we got so we could wander around the decks.
I suspect the cruise ship companies do these things with that in mind . Today's lookie loo is tomorrow's customer....and they probably get a tax deduction in the process.

Danger Will Robinson Danger!!!
We received a similar invite for a May 2005 (or 2004, unsure) visit by the Oosterdam to San Francisco, when the O was less than a year old, and repositioning to Alaska. I also think it was one of the last times a HAL stopped in SF.
We had not seen a Vista ship at that point, but had been on several other HAL ships. We loved it. On the Lido Pool area HAL had a travel agents desk, and they were offering cruises at pretty good discounts. We "just had to have" a 10 partial Canal (oddly, on the Rotterdam, not a Vista) the following December, that we found there, and away we went.....
Its a big trap! Stay away!!!:D:D:D:D:D

Have a great time and let us know what you think of the ship. While I can't say Celebrity is a line I like that much I thought the ship I was on was quite nice.

Back in the early 90's when we lived in the South Florida area, our TA invited us to go check out (with a great lunch and tour) a brand new ship: Statendam! We had never cruised with HAL but we liked the ship so much that we booked a cruise on her. We have never cruised any other line since!

You know Zuiderdam has a trip departing San Francisco this fall, right? :)

I didn't know that. I see it is part of her repo to the Caribbean. I am very happy to see that, and hope they do it more!
However, Noordam has a 20 day cabin waiting for me next month.

Lucky you!! We live in Greater Saint John area too and I got no such invitation so I must have the wrong TA:eek: explains why I didn't use her this time I guess. I wouldn't ask for a TA's name on the board of course, but I wish I could scrounge up this invitation. I didn't like my last Celebrity cruise but I think it was the wrong ship. Would sure like a chance to see another one!! lucky!! lucky!!~!:):)

Last time we were involved in a cruiseship tour/luncheon, it was on the Eurodam here in SJ, and more than one agency was involved---about five of them---and each one had 20 or so guests. I know our agency is being allowed 30 so I am guessing that other agencies would be involved this time as well. Doesn't hurt to ask-----do it ASAP as July 15th is the last day to submit passport #s etc.
Maybe we will get to meet on board. We live in Millidgeville. Are you KV or GBWF?

Is this part of your job to post information about HAL on here?

No DBA (Dutch by Association) does this to be nice. He has his own thread too where you can ask questions. This is not part of his job.
