Hi all we are going on the dream on tuesday but this question is not about the ship has anyone stopped in the son matias in palma nova, if so are there plenty of sunbeds and what is palma nova like.

Palma Nova is an Ok place. Though it is in walking distance to Magaluf so you may get some of the younger partying crowd staying in Palma Nova as it it close by.

Penty to do during the day on the island though, epecially if you hire a car.

Stayed in the Son Matias pre cruise on the 22nd June for a week..Excellent hotel,great food and great entertainment...
I would say pool area is smallish and compact but had no trouble getting a sunbed.You do have the the usuals who sit in the lounge waiting on the pool opening at 9-00am to try and get what they think is prime spots...They have a policy at the hotel that if your sun lounger is unused/empty for an hour a sticker is placed on the lounger and your towels and belongings are lifted.Good idea as its stops those inconsiderates who put a towel on a sun lounger and go away for hours or the day.

Remember,you also have the choice of the beach a hop step and a jump from the hotel

As far as what Palma Novas like,depends what your looking for.Enough bars/entertainment to satisfy me but if your looking for something a bit more noisy/upbeat Magaluf is virtually round the corner from your Hotel.

Can recommend getting the boat/ferry type thing(you`ll see it from the hotel) from Magaluf into Palma.Only runs on certain days

Bus to Santa Ponsa for a day out,plenty bars there

Son Matias as a hotel is the best one in Palma Nova - I am not saying it has the best pool but overall it is the best.

Not stayed at that hotel but stayed in Palma Nova and really enjoyed it. Plenty of sun loungers on both Palma Nova and Magaluf beach, as others have said you can walk into Magaluf if you want the night life or stay in Palma Nova. Would recommend a trip to the capital if not been before.

Have they still got that brilliant Crazy Golf in Palma Nova? It has 18 holes and is laid out in beautiful gardens. We spent a whole evening there and by the time we came out all the restaurantrs were closed, so we ended up in MacDonalds for burger and chips:eek:;)

Crakin kebab,burger,steak baguettes etc cafe outside the Son Matias/across from the El Mecca bar for those rolling home late.Had reason to visit a few times ;)
