we will be on the Zuiderdam in July and were wondering if the pools are open when you get on the first day?

Bill we were on this past July and the pool did not open on the first day....they were to busy doing the sailaway party etc......But every other day I was up there at 6:00 am and enjoyed the quiet.

:) when we boarded the Volendam in october they were, people were swimming before sailaway although the pools were freezing:eek: are they always that cold? My family spend most of there time in the pool, not this time.

OK thanks. I always plan on swimming the first day when we embark but I get caught up exploring the ship and EATING! (lol) and never make it. I'm sure if it was open on this cruise I probably wouldn't make it again but who knows.

Like dst, the pools on my last cruise were not open the first day.

There are many posts saying they are open so I think the majority of the time they are.

On the Zuiderdam last October people were swimming around noon when we boarded at the mid-ship pool, the aft pool was not open. I think all the people who were swimming were doing a B2B and were just watching all the new passengers make their way to the Lido for lunch.

On the Maasdam the Lido pool was open when we boarded around 12:30 on October 30. We had an unusually warm day and some people were in the pool that afternoon.

OH well I'll find out for sure in July. :D

I'll pack my bathing suit in my carry on just in case it is open and I do make it into the water.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. :)
