We are going to put our daughter in either cabin #313 or #376 on the Maasdam. We like #376 for it's central location, and maybe a little extra sun light getting through, but very concerned about noise, as it is right above the main galley. PLEASE help if anyone is familiar with these cabins.....Thanks.......Carol:confused:

We were in 375 on Ryndam--and yes, you are below the main galley!!!!!!!! Sounded like Roller Derby each night until about 10PM and then a sudden still came over the cabin! We just laughed, and then tried to sleep--problem was light because we were in Alaska and not used to light that late at night.
Our first time in an outside cabin, and for us, never again!! Back to our inside on Main Deck. Our main complaint was not the noise, but the light that came in under the draperies.

We will be in a HH cabin on our upcoming Veendam cruise. We took the fully obstructed outside vs. inside for the same price. As long as we have a drop of light to see it's daylight out there is fine with us.
How obstructed are these cabins? Window or porthole ? Lower Prominade deck.
Anyone ?

We had a cabin under the galley on the Amsterdam, and somebody up there kept droppng bowling balls all night! Bring your earplugs!
HH - How obstructed are these cabins? Window or porthole ? Lower Prominade deck. Anyone ?If you look straight out from the 2.5 ft x 3.5 ft window in an HH cabin on the L.P. of the Veendam you will see a solid steel wall across the promenade. If you look hard right or hard left from many of them you will be able to see water. That's probably not true of the four in "the tunnel", 300/301/302/303. And those four will be darker than any other HH, too.
If you get "upgraded" to a G or H on the Main or A decks, then you would have a porthole. That, for me, would be a downgrade.

Did you check the thread you started a couple of days ago? There were 24 replies. Maybe some of them can help?

Is the porthole what you'd consider a downgrade ? Or because the decks are lower than the HH ?
We're happy with a little light on this cruise. We cruise again the end of october and have our Balcony Aft cabin to look forward to .

Is the porthole what you'd consider a downgrade ? Or because the decks are lower than the HH ?Both. With the porthole you'll get a tiny bit of light, but it's probably less than what you'd get in most HH. The windows are worthless for seeing anything - you can probably see more from most of the "obstructed" HH. But worst of all, on the lower decks you lose the quick and easy access to the largest verandah on the ship.
