Haven't seen this on the boards yet so I thought I'd ask. We're on the Amsterdam to Alaska. That includes porting in Victoria BC in the evening. ALL of the excursions leave at either 8 or 8:30. Does that mean that anyone with late seating dinner misses the port entirely? Or do they make some arrangement for that night since it's an evening port? DH is looking forward to one of the shore excursions, but I'm going to be an unhappy camper if I miss dinner!

They may either change the dining times, or you could go to the Lido for dinner. Same entrees as in dining room - the only difference is that you pick up your own appetizer, soup and/or salad. Entree is served to you.

You will find out in Alaska- superior are the anytime dining cruiselines. :) But once you sail there a couple times, the dining becomes a very low priority item. I would just enjoy Victoria, especially if you haven't been there and order room service or eat in the buffet.

Chacun a son gout, but I enjoy fixed dining times and places - especially in Alaska. Nothing finer than an 8:30 dinner in a table by the window....

And dining is never a low priority item.

I'm with Esme. I bet they change the dining times. On the Zaandam Christmas cruise, we were in Tortola from 7 AM to 10 PM. The dining times for that evening were changed to open seating from 5:45 to 8:00 PM. That allowed those who wanted it some evening time off of the ship without missing dinner. It was also the evening of the deck BBQ which ran from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Of course, there's always the Lido buffet. Don't do as we--"seasoned cruisers"--did and fail to notice the change in that day's program! :(

They changed the dining times when we were there.

The LIDO solution is a good solution for you. Am looking forward to my first trip to Victoria in May, 2005
