Are there bathtubs in the cabins on the Oosterdam? We will be in an Oceanview room on the main deck. I am sure there are showers, but are there actual tubs.

Just checked the deck plan ... all F category and most E category oceanview on Main Deck have showers only. The E's with tubs w/showers are cabin numbers 1111, 1112, 1114, 1115. All other oceanview on that deck are shown as tubs w/showers.

You have to check which cabin you're assigned to on the deck plan. Some cabins have an * which denotes shower only. Without the asterisk, you can expect a shower/tub.

Thanks. We have a category F room. I just checked on the website. See my pic. Am I reading this wrong or do we have a bathtub, too :)? I hope so. I need a tub :D.

EDITED: Nevermind. I just read the comment from the other poster about the asterisks. No bathtub for us :(. I'm glad I know ahead of time. I'll have to bring a shower cap. Thanks!

Ah, thank you. As my son and husband won't need one, I'll use the ones in the cabin all for me :).

I have always had a balcony with a bathtub but I sure couldn't soak in it, it was too short. Are the bathtubs in the SY cabins any bigger? We are moving up for this cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary! I am so excited to be in a suite....keeping my fingers crossed the upgrade fairly will see her way to a SC, SB, SA any of those upgrades would be fine with me. Notice I did not mention the PH as I feel that would be too greedy.:D

The bathtub in the SY that I had on the Oosterdam was indeed longer. I was able to stretch out nicely. Enjoy your cruise!

Ruth C: U seem to be the person who may be able to help me out! Can't decide between Zuidy cabin VE5114 or VC5160. This will be our first HAL cruise. I am not sure if having lifeboats below us in room VE will be a problem seeing. Only cruised RCCL where lifeboats are recessed below so can see. Seems on HAL stick out alot more. AS VE more midship, but smaller balcony. VC aft with larger balcony, but smaller inside. I am going crazy trying to decide. Thanks for any help, elaine

I am not sure if having lifeboats below us in room VE will be a problem seeing. In the VE you won't even see the lifeboats unless you are standing at the railing looking down. This picture was taken from one of the glass elevators when stopped on deck 5. You can see how far the lifeboats are down.

Here is a picture looking up from a dock. (Ignore the red box on a deck 6 cabin ... that's there for another person's question.)

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'd be of little help on this one; I'm a cave dweller.
Listen to jtl513, as he's an expert on the various V-categories and decks.

I forget what thread it was on, but i read somewhere that the lifeboats only obstruct of you look STRAIGHT down. So, honestly, how much obstruction is that really? Not much. LOL.

Go with whichever cabin suits your minimum requirements for a cabin, and go for it. :-)
