Just to let everyone know....

During my conversation with the lady at HAL re the Noordam, I
asked for the heck of it which ship will take over the Hawaii run
once the Statendam leaves for the South Seas.

And the winner is.......

ZAANDAM!

She mentioned the fleet will be going thru a few re-assignments next year, and so far it's the AMSTERDAM to Hawaii in spring, and ZAANDAM in the fall of 2006.

I get 1st dibs on 7001!

:-D

We just looked and there is a 30 day Hawaii Tahiti San Diego to San Diago trip on the Amsterdam already listed. It starts on Jan. 6, 2006. We are thinking of taking that trip. Might see our TA about it in a couple of days. Penny (PS it is under Hawaii on HAL board)

Hey Vic
If you cruise throught the thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=114426&highlight=2006
you will find a lot of information on what is going to be in 2006. Some of it regarding Alaska might not be 100& correct.

HAL moving ships around in 2006 (01/21/2005)

Amsterdam, Statendam, Westerdam, Zuiderdam getting new homes

SEATTLE -- Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam is giving up its traditional spot in the Caribbean for Alaska during summer 2006, and the Westerdam will move to Alaska from Europe, giving the line three Vista-class ships in Alaska and eight ships there overall.

In other 2006 deployment news, the Amsterdam will leave Alaska to sail in the Baltic region, and the Statendam will move to Australia and New Zealand for winter 2006.

The line’s world cruise, meanwhile, will include a call in Libya.

I would love to take that 30 day cruise ... but with a single sup that makes a cheap inside cabin about $7000. OUCH!

Looking at the 2006 projected schedule ... the Noordam is doing a transatlantic, departing Sept 28 from Rome and crossing to New York, with a stop in Bermuda!!!!! 16 days. That might be it for me!!!! 2 or 3 days pre-cruise in Rome, followed by a crossing! Yippie!

OR ... perhaps ... the 21 day "Midnight Sun" cruise on the Prinsendam (assuming she's still with the fleet, eh?). That cruise includes Norway, Spltsbergen, Iceland, and Scotland, round trip out of Amsterdam.

OR ... perhaps ... The Amsterdams 10-day Scandinavia & Russia Cruise? Lots of dates to chose from on that one. :)

Or, we could go to the Far East and join my beloved Statendam for her April 17th 14-day China / Japan Cruise. That's post Easter .... :) Christopher would LOVE to do that one, and we've NEVER been to the Far East.

Oh, if only I had the time and the money, I could do them all!!!!! :D

That might be one where the guaranteed share program would come to the rescue. I would consider it for an itinerary like that ... especially since it's the only way I could afford a 30-day cruise.

Alas, though ... work is still a problem. I doubt I could get that much time off at a clip. :(

Blue skies ...

I am also looking at Hawaii for 2006. Hubby and I are planning 10th anniversary cruise.

This years schedule was perfect with 7-day alaska with 17-day hawaii right after. So far this combinaton is not being offered. Did find a 7-day alaska with a 27-day trip to New Zealand, stopping a Hawaii that we might do instead.

Just have to wait for the whole schedule to come out!
