Went online today and saw my countdown clock. Right now I am about 4 months out from the cruise. To celebrate I ordered some Bailey's for DW to be delivered to the room, but heck this is getting long. I have got clothes purchased for the trip, will be picking up a new camera later this month, picking up new masks for snorkeling soon, but I am running out of stuff to do.

One of my favorite times of the year at the university is the start of school in the fall, Freshman walk around in a daze, returning students check back in for the fall and parking turns into a major find and seek sport. I noticed that the corn is starting to turn a lighter color in the fields, soybeans are fully grown and my own garden is overgrown with weeds. But this is the first fall that I have scheduled a cruise for around the holidays. I'm not sure I like this kind of a wait. I have no idea how you folks plan out cruises a year or more in advance!

A question, how do you spend the time before you leave?

Waitng is the hardest/exciting part. My Cruise is still many months away. I am here on CC more than ever.........I check my stuff/reservation on HAL's website atleast once a day. I check my reservations/flight stuff in my email everyday or go directly to the websites to see if anything has changed.

My mailbox is full of cruise specials from other cruise lines. I am always looking at the different cruises I could take.............I have been known to take 3 cruises in a year....

I take it a day at a time..........LOL Having a Cruise addiction thats all I can do. :D

We scheduled our upcoming (Sep) cruise in May 09. It wasn't until June that I started really anticipating the cruise -- which I guess is right about your 120 day marker. :)

Now that we're within that 120 day window, we're planning, shopping, making lists, researching the ports, talking about it more. At work, when upcoming projects are mentioned, I get to say "sorry, I won't be here then." I think this phase is really fun!

The great thing (to me) about HAL cruises is that the actual vacation always exceeds my expectations. The first cruise I went on, I was just doing it (reluctantly) to keep my mother company; I couldn't think of a more boring way to spend a week. How wrong I was!

But I have almost as much fun looking forward to it and getting ready for it as I do on the cruise itself.

I work like a bee, it helps make the time go faster and more spending money for the trip.
We are on the same cruise, I see that clock as going fast cause life has been so busy for me this past 6 weeks. I always book a year in advance, otherwise I am a lousy saver, and would never go anywhere:)
To me it isn't the cost of the cruise itself, as it is the time off no pay (self employed) hiring the house/pet sitter, on board spending and excursion/fun money.
No time at all, we'll be sipping something good on the Noordam!:D

No, Les, I think it's around day 100:D. (See countdown below.)

Not being as far along with clothes or other shopping, we still have plenty to do. To pass the time waiting, I read on CC and pick up many ideas as to how to improve our experience and dream of other future cruise possibilities.

Cheers!

Hi There,

We usually spend the time before we leave making arrangements for future cruises as well as doing the necessary non-cruise stuff (medical appointments, catching up with friends, getting finances straightened out, taking care of the house, etc.)

Yesterday Karen checked and we are presently signed up for no less than eleven separate future cruises over the next two years on the Amsterdam. And these cruises add up to nearly 450 days on the ship.

Right now we are waiting for the Grand Asia to leave in about two months. We’ll start packing in a few weeks.

I work right up until the time I leave. I usually get in a day to a day and a half early.
