We are on the Westerdam 3/27 Western Carib. Anyone out there know which nights are formal and the menues for the other nights? Trying to figure out which night to go to the Pinnacle. The teens don't want to miss anything (Dh & I could go without them) but we promised we would have dinner with them every night. We got off the Westerdam 1/9 after a too short 5 day which was terrific. I would be happy to try to answer any specific questions about her. Thanks everyone.

You would be much better off to wait until you get on the ship and ask the Maitre d' your questions and make your Pinnacle reservations then. Menus change, schedule of formal nights change, etc.

I'm on the 3/20 Westerdam. So there's no need to make Pinnacle reservations before we get on the ship?

Hi! We are booked on the same cruise. Generally, the formal nights are the nights when the ship is at sea for the entire day. I believe that on this cruise it may be Tuesday and Friday for the formal nights.

Sorry. Forgot to ask - how old are your teens? I have a 13 year old son. Did the Westerdam have enough activities for the kids? We've never cruised Holland America before.

KrazyKruiser will be returning from the Westerdam Western Caribbean this Sunday and will be able to fill us in on this information next week. I doubt it will change much in the next 7 to 9 weeks. I will be doing this one in 7 weeks. Hope to have DOCS this nect weeks.:D

I can only speak from my personal experience on 3 HAL ships. I have never seen more than a few tables occupied in the Pinnacle at any one time on any of these ships. We would never make our reservations before boarding and deciding while on the ship the evenings we want to dine there. I think most people on CC have reported the same thing.

The 4 girls are 17 & 18. There will be plenty of things to keep your 13 y/o busy & I'm sure he will find others his age to "hang"with. Our daughter has been cruising with us for several years and has always enjoyed it. She has met kids from all over the world; still keeps in touch with most of them (IMs) and has visited several of them as they have us. She did Club HAL last year at XMas as she was alone and ended up having a great time helping out the staff with the younger kids. By the way, customer service at HAL told me our formal nights will be the day of HMC and Caymans. They are not always accurate, so hopefully we will find out more in the next couple of weeks.

It has been my observation that they never fully book Pinnacle. There have been times we have dined there; we know others tried to get a reservation and were told they could not get a booking but the restaurant was not more than 50-60% full. I do not think they are staffed fully enough to have every table occupied.

I Hope The Second Formal Night Is Not Friday. We Will Be At Sea On Saturday. Friday Is Cozumel. I Hope Friday Is Not A Formal Night. Does Anyone Know How They Plan The Formal Nights? I, Too, Thought It Was When You Are At Sea.
