I know I am, a few more weeks!!!!!I lived in Massachusetts for 10 years. I remember cruising mid-January. One of the great things about it was just getting a week long reprieve from the frozen tundra. We've had some very cold weather in Virginia (at least for us) but no where as bad as you get up there.

We had record high temps yesterday - it was about 68 and sunny. One great thing about Colorado, wait 10 minutes and the weather will change!

I am ready to go, though - it's less than 60 days away til we meet on the Volendam - I wish I were cruising the week before like you are doone. :)

Being in the same weather I really really really want to get the H-E double hockey sticks out of here! I will have to wait 'til March though to get out of here (going to Vegas). But I wish I could sneak away to somewhere warm for a long weekend (especially this weekend).

Today is a frozen tundra here. I keep thinking of myself sitting on my verandah on the Zuiderdam sipping one of those cocktails with the little umbrella's in them!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT NOW, especially where I just heard we can get upto 15 inches of snow from that storm tomorrow night into Sunday!!!!

PATIENTLY WAITING FOR MARCH 11TH.

Just came back from a 14 day holiday cruise but with this cold weather, I'm ready to go again. We are expecting a huge snowstorm here in Pa. Wish I had another cruise planned to help me get through this cold and snowy weather.

Just gassed up the snowblower here in central CT, now I just have to bring in some wood for the fireplace and go to the package store and I'll be ready for the storm. This weekend after shoveling I'll practice with some Margaritas - gotta get in shape for that Town, Country & Tequila excursion in Puerto Vallerta. Wishing everyone safe travel and calm seas. Most of all, have FUN!

I guess if there's one good thing about this upcoming snow storm its that while we're stuck at home we can ponder just what we'll be doing on our upcoming HAL cruises.

as the snow falls and piles up I slip into a dream..............a nice tall glass of Bombay Sapphire Gin & tonic as I sit on the veranda feeling the nice warm ocean breezes of the Carribean.........the MS Westerdam making her way to the next........

oh no!! I woke up!!

I went to Palm Springs over the holidays to get some sun but it rained nearly all week. Then it rained some more when I got home...

I'm freezing my butt off here in SF, but at least the sun came out today.

How I wish I had booked myself on the February RSVP cruise but I'm booked for the Alaska in September. What exactly was I thinking??? I need more cool weather like I need a hole in the head!!!

I'm so ready...

It's going to be one heck of a storm, even for us in D.C. We're expecting five to 8 inches, and basically anything over four inches shuts D.C. down!

I am in Maryland and I am sure everything will be shut down. The company I work for was going to have our Holiday Party at the Crystal City Gateway Marriott tomorrow, but the weather has postponed the party. I guess I will be stuck at home all weekend. At least I talked my DH into dinner out tonight. I can't wait for our cruise on the Zaandam in March.

If you want to experience what we call coldus maximus, come to the true "frozen tundra" ... today we had a high temperature of -27. With the wind chill the temperature went down to -38 and overnight we should hit about -43. We have a glacier(or maybe it's just a really large snow drift) about the size of Boston in our back yard that likely won't disappear totally until about the beginning of May.

I can hardly wait until Feb 16th when we sail away for the Panama Canal - that's what is keeping us sane in this horrible weather!!!

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

I'm definitely ready just hope the weather holds out for a few hours tomorrow. We've got a 2:00 flight from Dayton to FLL so we can board the Westerdam on Sun. They're predicting 12 in tomorrow. We just booked a room in a hotel near the airport so at least we won't run into not being able to get there tomorrow. Guess it's all my fault since the last storm was the day we were leaving to go to LA for Christmas and got delayed till the next day. Wish me luck! Hopefully we'll get there and I can write a review when we get back (though it can snow that day if it likes!).

Am counting the minutes til we leave on Wednesday morning for our 10 day cruise on the Maasdam. Hope the 12 to 18 inches they are predicting here for Long Island does not create havoc with air travel on Wednesday. Am thinking optimistically..........they will have 3 full days to clean off the runway!! In the meantime I went out and bought hot chocolate, stuff to make beef stew and dumplings and a BIG bottle of Baily's!!........that ought to get us through the weekend!

We are more than ready for our next cruise in just 50 days, but I am sitting here in San Diego on a little weekend get away so not too bad. The weather is nice, but it will be sad to see the Oosterdam tomorrow and not be able to get on board. I guess I will just have to wait for March 13th:( But I don't think it will take that long the days are going by quickly so quick that I have my doubts I will loose the additional 10 pounds I need to loose.

Hope everyone in cold weather has a warmer weekend.

Having lived most of my life in Saskatchewan I can take the cold (don't like it but you get used to it), but what really gets me is living in the country all we see is white, white, white, white, white!!!

Well, good luck to all of you in the path of that storm. Those of you traveling, I hope you have no delays, and reach your destinations safely & on time. :)

We get snow (often times, quite a bit) then the sun comes out and melts it all away - not like some of you in Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, etc. where the snow stays on the ground all winter.

DavidNDC
January 22nd, 2005, 12:36 PM
Well, it's coming down pretty good in Washington, D.C. now. We should have at least five inches on the ground by the end of the afternoon if not more.

But it is going to be a LOT worse north of here. Philadelphia will get a foot, and they say NYC will get 20 inches and Boston 25 inches. Plus, the low-pressure system that right now is developing over the Atlantic is going to create blizzard conditions over much of New England, including 60-mph wind gusts.

One of the TV weather commentators compared it to the "Perfect Storm" of 1978, but as for myself, I don't see anything perfect about it!

Peggy Sue
January 22nd, 2005, 07:13 PM
Doon, and all others in New England .. Yes, I'm ready to get out of here, but I don't think it will be tonight or tomorrow ... snow has been falling for several hours, looking at 2 feet before it's over late tomorrow afternoon....I thought living on the coast would bring us less snow..but these nor'easters really dump it on us!

Those traveling .. stay safe and hope your flights are not delayed!

Those here in new England and other areas that have alrady been in the path of this storm (now being called a Blizzard) stay safe, and warm and may your dreams of warm breezes, sunny skies, and calm seas see you through the next couple of days!

Folks, please be careful with your shovelling - we don't want to lose anybody to a heart attack. Our good friend and neighbor(early 50's) almost died when we had our last storm by shovelling out his driveway and his elderly neighbor's sidewalk and drive. Fortunately he's recuperating, but please let it be a lesson to you ... do it small amounts at a time and don't over-exert yourselves. We would miss you terribly on the boards if something happened to you. Stay safe and do it slowly with breaks in between.

Jim, yes you are a stinker! :D For those of you who think Las Vegas and Reno are fairly close together (there are those that do think this), it is 24 degrees outside and we have had snow and ice on the ground for several weeks! This is VERY unusual for Reno! Not the snow, but the fact that it doesn't melt away in a day or so. We usually have sunshine over 85 % of the time!, and I have not see it for more than a couple of hours at a time for weeks! And on top of all of this we have FOG!. We never have fog, and it won't go away either!

I went to turn the two broodmares out this morning and they looked at me like I was nuts. Tough love type that I am, I booted them outside anyway. This is the weanling colt's first snow - and he finds this all just too exciting and exotic.
