I've been booking my cruises directly with the HAL reservation agents for several years (for want of a good travel agent and disappointments with a bad one!). I've been told about the Personal Cruise Consultants. Since I've booked my past two cruises on board with the FCC, is it possible when I book another through the FCC to have that booking transferred to a PCC as I would if I had a travel agent?

Yes. We give them the name of whom we want the transfer to go to.

How do you get a PCC?

When you call Seattle to book a cruise you will be assigned what is called a PCC -- Personnal Cruise Consultant.
On the ship when you book with the FCC -- the name of the PCC that you book with in Seattle will show up on his/her computer. And the FCC should ask you if you wish to have your booking transfered over to that PCC.

If I booked w/HAL on-line is there a way I can still get a PCC? I feel like I am really speaking to a "call center" when I do call with a question. Thanks!

Out of the blue, several weeks ago, a PCC called me! I don't know why or how that happened. I had a nice chat with him, but didn't think to ask how I was "selected" to be assigned a PCC. Perhaps it's because I am at the point in life after a dozen HAL cruises that I'm booking longer cruises, or because I wrote a complimentary letter to HAL headquarters top executive after my last two cruises. Who knows? I was in a very rushed state when the PCC called and did not have a moment to ask him more questions. Eventually, I will ask.

We booked our first cruise through a PCC (the one my mom uses). Ours is fantastic and a pleasure to work with. I'm sure you could call and ask for one. They have a main 800#: 800-355-3017. :)

This was not my experience at all. I recently booked directly with HAL 1-800 number. Later I learned about PCCs via CruiseCritic wonderful message boards. When I called to have my reservation transferred to a PCC, I was told I had to cancel & rebook. Insanity in my opinion. I really pressed the PCC who took my call at the PCC number but he insisted this was the only way to do it.

However, that is entirely different than booking with a Future Cruise Consultant.
Your situation is more like booking with a TA, then trying to transfer to another TA. Not at all the same. When you book with a FCC, then transferring to a TA, or a PCC, is customary.

I think TravelRabbit was explaining he could not get a PCC just by dialing their number (instead of HAL's 800 #). That was my experience also. It seemed to me that you can't just call and request a PCC. He booked with HAL's 800#. (I booked on HAL's website.) I would have thought that a PCC was just an extension of the call center 800# or the website.

 That's not what TravelRabbit posted.
TR said the booking was made, then later the attempt to change to a PCC was refused. The booking would have to be canceled, then re-booked with a PCC.
Since this was posted as refuting the easy transfer from a FCC to a PCC, I thought it important to point out this situation is not the same as the point of the thread.

Sorry ... I should have started a new tread. I thought he was referring to his inability to transfer to a PCC after booking thru the 800# - which was my experience also.

To clarify, I booked with the main HAL 1-800 # (the one on their home page), not with a FCC. (I realize now I should have posted my reply to a different thread but didn't realize what FCC meant at the time.) Anyway I am glad to learn that if I book with a FCC in the future, I could transfer the booking to a PCC.
Re my problem, I still think it was customer unfriendly that I had to cancel and then re-book exact same cruise with a PCC, rather than just be assigned a PCC. Especially since the person at the main number never mentioned PCCs at all at the time of my original booking. How would I have ever known to book with them first if I preferred?? Thank goodness for CC message boards; live and learn.
