Completing day 20 of 35 on one of the most incredible cruise experience of the Voyage of the Vikings. Everything has been excellent; good service, great food, excellent staff, good entertainment, smooth seas and good weather at all ports of call. We were lucky to have the Texas Tenors perform two nights at the showroom. First time in all our cruises to see a standing ovation during performance and at end.

Two small changes made to Maasdam; Lido now using large oval plates and on sea days paper place mats on Lido dining tables with printed lunch menu and highlights of day's activities.

Complete review at end of cruise

Thanks for checking in.

Glad you are having a wonderful cruise.

Glad there are larger plates in the Lido. Hope the other ships get them.

Thanks for checking in with us. Seems you just boarded and here it is three weeks into your cruise. I certainly don't want to rush you along but our Canada/New England cruises are after you return, so......... :D

Great to hear Lido has the platter plates. That will make things a lot easier, I think. Also, it's a nice touch with the placements in Lido. Hope that continues for our cruises and is not a nice amenity just for you VOV'ers.

Hope when you return, you'll share some comments. We have booked part of Voyage of the Vikings for 2011 and are very excited about it.

Can you take a picture of the Lido place mats or bring one home and scan it for us? These sound cool! TIA

Lucky you! What a fabulous cruise. Glad you have had good weather. Hope it is cooler than here in most of the U.S. We hit 100 yesterday.

Please give us a review when you return.

Really like the idea of place mats & larger plates in Lido. Good going, HAL. Impliment this change ASAP on the other "dam" ships.

Thanks for the quick review G & G on my fave ship on the seas!
I have a few months before my cruise (December can't come fast enough :D!).
I too would like to see a copy of the Lido placemats.
These new oval plates seems like a good idea also.
Don't time go by fast when on the Maasdam :D!

We are sailing the Maasdam, Boston to Montreal, leaving 9/4. This is our first Holland cruise. I am getting differing accounts of laundry services. Are there self service laundromats on board? What send-out laundry offers did you receive during the cruise?

Thanks for sharing!

Maasdam has at least two self service laundries. Check Main and Veranda Decks.

Are these paper placemats or cloth? I would think paper as that would be a lot more practical serving so many people. Insignia on them?

I'm looking forward to your review!

In my secret heart of hearts, I want to go on the 35 day Maasdam Collectors' Caribbean. We have our 10 year anniversary in 2012 and are looking at this one and the Hawaii/south Pacific on the Rotterdam.

The unlimited laundry package is $7.00 per day and $4.00 per day for pressing. That is for both passengers in the stateroom. We purchased the unlimited press only for $28.00. Unlimited laundry would be $49.00.

My parents are on this cruise and I would love to hear more! Hope the weather and the seas continue to behave.

The placemats, lunch menus and printed day's activities might be an added perk just for the VOV.

Hopefully the larger platters will be more permanent ... could even lead to larger and larger until they reach tray size;):D.

The placemats are paper and only on sea days. The large oval plates in the Lido are china plates.

Day 28 of 35. First day the paper bags deployed at the elevators. Semi-rough seas.

Heading back to Greenland on the way home to Boston. Iceland was unbelievable but the best was the 6 hour sail through Prince Christain Sound in Greenland 3 weeks ago. Sound was 200 to 500 yds wide, mountains towering +4000 feet on either side, 7 major glacier fields and numerous icebergs one as big as the ship above water.

Trip continues to be wonderful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
