Hi, sorry to ask a silly question, but I'm from England and I have no idea what a Eurotop Mattress is. I've also seen it referred to on a lot of US hotel websites and I have no idea what they are referring to!
Can anyone enlighten me.
We've just booked an S Categroy suite on the Westerdam for the 4th December.
Many thanks.

It's a like pillow top mattress made by Sealy and it is the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on. :D Everyone is raving about them. They are nice and thick - almost need a foot stool to get up on the bed it is now so high. :) And the pillows are wonderful.
Not like the thin mattresses they used to have. Many hotels are going this route also.

A Eurotop mattress is sometimes referred to as a pillow top mattress. It has an added layer on top with extra padding and button tufting. We have two at home, and they're like sleeping on clouds.

it was heaven! The old beds were comfortable but this new mattress was a dream. Even DH who is a mattress critic to the max loved it.

Think of a good box spring and matteress set then add the egg crate materess on top and sew it into the top of the materess. They are very nice to sleep on.

We bought one this past year for home use - I can't believe I ever had something different, there is no going back. I am sleeping better than I have for years.
Ours is the Eurotop with out the separate pillow-top thingy, it has a top layer comprised of down and that NASA foam stuff - it feels as though you are sleeping on a cloud, yet there is ample support for your back. It is a dream. :)

They are sooooooooooo comfortable,:D after the Volendam last october we just have to have on,e I have spent the last two months trying to find the right thing, from what I can gather from Cruise Critic members it is made by Serta and somebody said you could not buy them, I have found them on the internet but only in the US as I am also from the UK that was a problem, (because of shipping) but I have found something similar a Sealy Mirrorform and also a Tempur mattress anyway I am giving you this info because after you have slept on one you too will have to have one, have a good time.

Julie-
One CC member posted the brand name and type a few months back- I will see if I can find it.. we did not end up getting the exact one, but I thought I saw it mentioned by a CC member that she did.
The one we ended up with is very close - we actually upgraded it to a 20-yr. type so it would last. Ours is by Serta, and I don't know how I ever lived without it. :)

HAL's are made by Sealy, specifically for HAL. You cannot buy them in the stores, unfortunately. HAL was supposed to set up a program for paxs to buy them, but I don't know if this has been done or not, or even who to contact about buying one. :(

The HAL website itself says the mattresses are:

I'm very glad to hear everyone's positive comments about the new mattresses. One of the consistent critiques I have put on my post-cruise comment card is how awful the old mattresses were! I found them to be painful! So, I'm looking forward to trying the new ones out!
It is interesting that the CC board displays ads for mattresses, among other things! We bought a temper-pedic style mattress about 18 mos ago and it is the best sleeping mattress we have ever owned. I gather that the pillow-top mattress has a temper-pedic type foam layer over the conventional mattress. If so, great!

The mystery is solved. Thank you all for your descriptions. I look forward to being lulled to sleep in my wonderful bed on the ocean!

These mattresses are the absolutely best I've ever slept on other than my own bed. It is true that someone posted they tried to obtain one and were told by Sealy that they are made exclusively for HAL and cannot be purchased. Really stupid, IMHO, since they would sell thousands.
At home I prefer my mattress with my featherbed topper which I just replace every so often. That is the most heavenly thing ever invented ... like sleeping on a giant pillow yet the bed underneath is firm.
I would cruise HAL for their beds if for no other reason ... after all I spend at least a third of my cruise there;) .
