My partner and I booked an outside cabin on NIEUW AMSTERDAM in November, and we are thinking of reserving a cabana in The Retreat area to compensate for not having a balcony. I actually think we would use the cabana more than the balcony over the course of a week.

Here is a question for anyone that has booked one of these cabanas. Would you recommend one that faces the side of the ship, or one facing aft over the center pool? Although I would love a side facing view, I think it's a wall of glass which means there is little air circulation and it could get hot. I think the aft facing cabanas just have a rail which would mean more air circulation?

Do I have that correct?

Thanks.

Ernie

Hello Ernie, yes you do have that correct, however I have read there is a space underneath the glass and air can circulate...I have not been on my cruise yet, but have the family one booked as I thought it would be a good way to entertain guests...I also wrote to HAL, and received a response to some questions you might find interesting...Joanie has great images on her "sticky" thread about cabins. You will find my Q & A there...you will find the information you seek near the bottom of this thread...

You can also request, but not be guaranteed a specific cabana, by the ships coordinator, just phone ships services and ask to be put in touch with her...

Hope this helps enjoy your cabana.
