We will be sailing in about 13 days now on the Westerdam! Just wanted to know if they provide shampoo and other toiletries, if they do what is the quality and should we bring our own? I'm looking out my window now at about 12" of snow!!!!!!! Can't wait for this cruise, sun, sand, warm water, swimming, tanning and lots of fun!!!! What about you guys?????????

:) As I write this, I am looking out our window at 26" of snow and it is still falling. Our yard is a vertible winter wonderland.

HAL provides shampoo/conditioner combination. I have short hair and it is fine for me and I use it. If you wish, you certainly can bring your regular brand and I am sure many people do.

You mention 'bubbles'.......If you have a tub in your bathroom and plan on having a bubble bath, you have to bring your own 'bubbles'. HAL no longer provides bath gel.

Yes, but whatever you do, don't use bubble bath jel if you have a jacuzzi tub and turn the jets on. I did the first time we had a cabin with a jacuzzi tub and I had bubbles floating all over the bathroom. :D Thought DH would kill me! :p :D
I sure learned my lesson. :o

Esme I did the same thing once and there were bubles all over the bathroom. :D Maybe that is why Hal stopped giving out bath gel.

We have a jacuzzi tub and run bleach thru the pipes monthly. We don't use the tub on the ship, as we're not sure what kind of critters are growing in there.

They run bleach through the tubs onboard. We have done a number of back-to-back cruises, and have seen the stewards fill the tubs with bleach/water and run the jets and clean out the tubs on turn-around day.

I had the same experience on our Amsterdam SA cruise...;) I still chuckle about the wonderful mess I made....

Yikes! I hope you don't have to go anywhere... it is almost 68 degrees here today - the sun is shining and I have the windows open. :)

Stay warm and safe. It is beautiful when the snow is so pristine, isn't it? - I love watching the snow fall, it's just getting around afterward that is the pain.

As I am new to this board, I have certainly appreciated everyone's response to my questions that have been posted before.

Jacuzzi recommends using 1/4 cup of automatic dish detergent in a full tub of water to disinfect the pipes in their tubs, which would be an easy thing to carry on the ship. Then fill the tub again with just water to rinse.

Here in Boulder, CO, we were in the 70's today, with many people wearing shorts. Yesterday, I drove 1/2 hour into the mountains to go snowshoeing. We have the best of both worlds out here!:D

I would not recommend that you bring along your own detergent to clean the tub yourself. If you have any question as to the cleanliness of the 'pipes', you could request your steward run bleach through it again in order for you to be sure of its cleanliness. You could possibly damage the pipes....shipboard plumbing may differ from shoreside and you could end up doing damage or making a mess. That could be a very costly misstep.
JMHO.....

ruthiegirl, as sail7seas says they do provide 2 in one shampoo but it was not enough for the lenth of my hair and that s only just past the shoulder, also I like to be able to comb mine through after:( so had to use extra conditioner, my advice would be to take it with you.

Julie:)

I use a little blob of shampoo to get the bubbles. I little bit goes a long way.

But I just discovered this wonderful trick.

If you ever find yourself with too much bubbles, simply squirt a little bit of regular old hand lotion into the bath water. I mean it, regular Lubriderm or Vaseline Intensive Care, and the bubbles disperse immediately, it is truly amazing!

Try it sometime, it works!
