Glad you said that, I thought it was me going senile when I couldn't find her on marinetraffic. Can't believe she's still there, although in June we were very late leaving and the sailaway party came and went and we all went to bed, lol. Then in Istanbul the same thing, should have left at 19.00pm and didn't go until after 1.00am. I think they're overworking these ships all year round with no time for proper maintenance, they are getting on a bit.:):)

Thank heavens they are still getting to Istanbul...! Dikili sounds like it is no loss, but a pity they are missing Rhodes. We are on Celebration 20th sept, Istanbul, Dikili (boo) Kusadasi then Athens and lastly Crete.. I don't care if we miss out Dikili and have a day in Marmaris but I hope nothing else happens to our wee ship.!!!:(:(

Looks as though your intelligence is correct - en route for Istanbul now. It's a shame about Rhodes though - just hope all is well from now on and there are no more interruptions to 'normal service'.

Have we heard why the itinerary is being tackled the opposite way around yet? Clearly this week is different because of the delay in Marmaris but last week wasn't in the published order (may not be a prob as long as you get to everywhere planned) but just wondered what was the reason behind the alteration.

As suggested before, avoiding Greek strikes or port congestion or other 'operational' issues e.g. maintenance/supplies - or costs? Would be interesting to know. One-off changes with good reason are understandable but playing around with itineraries and the order of ports (some people have friends/family to meet on shore or organised trips arranged with outside providers) is not good practice and one which could be a negative for some passengers (e.g the removel of Canakkale for those wishing to visit Galipolli.) I hope it's not going to be a feature of future cruises.

As due to mechanical problems they are missing 2 out of 5 ports of call so I expect passengers will be expecting good compensation.

What would be considered good for a missed port of call not because of a act of god (weather etc)?

I am on this itinery in a fortnight and not concerned about Dikili but the other ports are on my 'to visit' list which has not many new ticks on it this summer. I missed 3 on a dream cruise back in July.

That was a bit rough on your Dream cruise, dave. Three ports missed represent quite a significant change. I trust you got some compensation for that!

We had 20% off the price we paid (standard across all passengers) when we missed two ports on a Baltic cruise in our early days of travelling with Thomson. That was due to a mechanical probelm - the ship was 18 hours late sailing from Harwich (they did a fantastic job finding accommodation for all those passengers on a bank holiday Monday - we ended up at the Radisson at Stanstead, others at the Hilton - couldn't complain about that although of course some did!).

But it was very disappointing to miss Tallin which was one of the 'jewels in the crown' of the cruise. Still, it gave us a good excuse to go again! :D

Not going on this trip til 2nd May,2011. Just wondering now (what with all the changes) where we will end up if we ever get to leave Marmaris. When you book a cruise - you book with particular places in mind that you want to see. You pay very good money to see these places and then it seems Thompson, just at will, change ports of call. I know SAFETY has to come first at all times but I am wondering if we have made a mistake booking with Thompson again.

We are also travelling on the celebration on the 20th September. This is the first time I've heard that the ship is having problems. Had a letter off thomson this week advising us of the change to one of the ports of call. Is Dikili that bad, don't seem to have seen any good reports about it.
We were on the Dream in May, although we were very lucky and did not experience some of the horrors other travellers experienced, we were hoping the celebration would make up for the dream being old and shabby.

Hi jed1957

Thank heavens to hear of someone else on the Celebration on the 20th. You are lucky you have received your letter, we are still waiting for ours.!!
I sent an email to Thomson on saturday and got one back to say that they were forwarding it to their programme change dept, and that they would be in touch in due course.
I have not read one bad report on the Celebration until now, but maybe after a busy HOT season the air con had just had enough..!!
We are still very much looking forward to our cruise and our Blessing at Sea, just getting more anxious (it's our 1st cruise.!).
I will post Thomson's reply 'when' I get it..!:):)

Hi Matthew, yeah I know really weird, I bet you can't wait for the Transatlantic cruise..we only booked Liberty cause the Celebration is for my husband and myself for our anniversary, the boys have to come with us and I don't think there will be a lot for them on Celebration during term time..??
Soo hence the Liberty of the seas next year at halloween break. Have you been on the other roll call yet.?
We could always leave a message for each other when we are swapping over..!!:D:D

Sandra it will be amazing and the reason you have picked the liberty for your kids is similar to me I looked at the Dream this year because we were due to do this cruise in April but got canx because of the volcanic ash anyway was going to wait till TOM released next year but more I thought about it even though TOM have the best Itinerary because most port visits are in the Caribbean where liberty visit Spain & canaries then straight to fort Lauderdale 7 days at sea Liberty won hands down on entertainment and facilities and that wasn't just against TOM no other cruise line came close to what was on offer for the 7 days at sea :) so decided while in Fort Laurdadale may as well add a week on Allure of the Seas :)

Matthew, I take it you got a good deal on Liberty as well then. I could not believe ours, £3700 for 5 of us (big sis coming on this one) for 7 nights flights, transfers, tips and mytime dining all included....and we are in a family stateroom on the royal promenade !! Compared to Celebration next month which has cost us just over £3000 for us and the kids in a 4 berth cabin (single beds lol)...but this cruise is special for us and next year is as I said for the boys...I am looking forward more to sept than next year tho cause I think next years will be a bit too glitzy for me and not as personal, but the boys have to have their fun..!!!!:D

Hi Sandra, thanks for your reply, my husband and I have sailed twice on the celebration, we enjoyed both cruises very much. This is why we have decided to sail on her again. You will not be disappointed. Its not long too wait for our holiday. Is your blessing at sea too celebrate a special anniversary?
Regards Julie

Hi Julie, the reason behind us going on our 1st cruise is to celebrate our 25th anniversary:) that is also the reason I am anxious that everything is ok with the Celebration and that they don't change any more ports of call, specially Athens and Crete they were the reason we picked this cruise.Hope to have the blessing between Athens and Crete or coming out of Crete.
Just promise not to laugh at Roddy and I when we come into the dining room after, oh the embarassment...:D
