We are on there next friday too - so had a search....

Taken from Lloyds insurance website:

Koper, Aug 18 -- While manoeuvring to basin No.1, Koper, at 1718, Aug 15, with pilot on board and tug assistance, fully cellular containership UASC Madinah struck with her starboard bow to the starboard superstructure of passenger (cruise) Thomson Spirit, which was moored alongside pier No. 7C. After completion of manoeuvring, the master requested pilot to countersign the Manoeuvre Book and invite him to pass an alcohol test. The pilot rejected the master’s request and left the vessel. The master reported this fact to the boarding Port State Inspector. However, the master declared that the collision was not caused by a failure of the vessel’s machinery or equipment, but due to the fact that the bridge team misjudged the distance between UASC Madinah and Thomson Spirit. UASC Madinah sustained the following damages: a) Bulwark structures with top plate, frames and stiffeners on starboard side from fr.N°322 to fwd end and on port side from fr.N°330 to fwd end - heavily distorted and cracked in several places. b) Shell plating below Forecastle deck between fr.N°296 and 298 on starboard side slightly dented to max. 25mm. c) Electric switch box of Suez light - locally damaged. d) Electric switch box of deck supply – locally damaged. Thomson Spirit sustained the following damages: a) Deck N°5 / Starboard side – Superstructure plating between frame N°178 and 204 – dented and scratched. – Window frame (3pcs) deformed (cinema hall). b) Deck N°6 / Starboard side – Deck between fr. N° 185 and 190 - buckled. – Side railing (close and open type) between fr. N°178 and 204 - waived. – Forward section of L/B N°1 davit’s– cracked welding at deck connection c) Deck N°1 / Cabin N°844 – Shell plating between fr. N° 143 and 146 - dented to approximately 100mm. – Fr. N° 144, 145 and 146 - deformed. – W/T bulkhead (Fr N° 144) - locally distorted. – Window frame - cracked. -- Lloyd's Agents."

Dont panic, we fly out tomorrow too but have friends already on board. Spirit was hit on Sunday night and all were mustered but damage was well above waterline, welded and sailed that night. Friends report they are having a fab time - see you all on board:)

Isn't this forum fantastic?!!!! Talk about the bush telegraph!!!! :D Good thing too - it's so valuable to be able to pass on info and posts like yours, craigsmum. It will bring a huge sigh of relief to those soon to be sailing on Spirit. When I read the report on the damage from Lloyds I was a bit alarmed but clearly they have documented every last scratch (for insurance purposes I guess) but it seems all is well on board and there is no need for anyone to worry.

Enjoy your time on Spirit to all those off soon. :D

Hi
Just returned home today and we were on deck 10 watching it all happen!!
The ship tilted and on the side facing the quay some cabin windows where bend in and the side that hit the quay was scratted. The windows in the cinema were smashed and the ceiling was also damaged, but films were showing again 4 days later. We got some video when the other ship was backing up and some pictures......didn´t film anything when it happend because we were busy holding on to the rail.
The staff handled everything perfekt and we ended up having a good cruise but unfortunately we didn´t get to go to the cinema which we were supposed to the day the collision happend
