Today I booked a 36 day cruise on the Prinsendam on line. I entered data for payment using the HAL Rewards credit card and pushed submit:
Image my surprise when it came back CARD DECLINED!
I called HAL accounting and they said I would have to call the Barclay's credit card company.
It took three people before I found someone who increased my credit liimit to cover the voyage.
If you have the card or are thinking of getting one be sure the credit limit is adequate.

Thanks for the warning -- I have no interest in getting HAL's credit crad.
Much prefer my AMEX Plat card.

I believe that anyone who doesn’t know the limit on their credit cards and roughly how much of it is still available, ought to consider taking better control of their finances.

Oh come on, I believe Bill stated last year he was in his 90's. I'm impressed he learned to use the computer and internet, and sharing info with folks on CC.
(Bill, thanks for reminding people, and sorry if I am mixed up on your age).

I have a HAL Credit card and I only have a $500. limit on mine so I use it judiciously. I should do that with all my credit cards.

Bill might have assumed that since the HAL card was for cruising that it had a generous limit rather than so restrictive. I think he deserves respect and credit for what he does and not snide remarks-give him a break as well as others.

Pete Jackson,
Reminding someone to take control of their finances is certainly not stretching the limits of civility. If you believe that patting someone on the head and saying "That's all right, there's no need to know how much money you have before buying something" is civility, then we strongly disagree.
I do not appreciate the inference in your comment.

the problem with this is the title of the post. the OP presented this as a problem that was HAL's fault.

Good for you, Bill. My mother turned 93 this August and is active and also uses the computer which I think is impressive. We enjoy your posts always and don't hesitate to inform us of something.
