We will be on the Veendam sailing out of Tampa. Anyone know if the Superbowl will be shown on the ship? If not.... DH will have to be sedated.

A lot depends on where the ship is and how well they can get satellite coverage - how rough the seas are, etc. but they will probably try their best.
Unfortunately. ;)

Odds are very good they will show the game. They can never guarantee they can get the satellite signal. When they do show major games such as World Series and Superbowl etc they set out great snacks and add as many chairs as possible to the area to accomodate all who want to see the game.

Veendam still has the big screen tv at the Casino Bar (unlike Maasdam where they removed the tv and put in more slot machines :( ). That is where they will show the game if they pay and are able to get the signal.

I was on an HAL cruise a few years ago that actually was a Superbowl Cruise. I didn't realize it until I was on the ship. They played it up big and had NFL hall of famers on board. Chuck Bednarik and Y A Tittle. They had a scheduled program in the showroom which was so well attended that they had a second presentation. They also were around the ship and happy to tqlk football with anyone who wanted to. They were all set up at game time and had a great Superbowl party.

On January 9th when we boarded the Westerdam, the daily program listed the NFL game between Minnesota and Green Bay as going to be shown at 4:30 in the sports bar and the Queen's Lounge with drink specials and hot appetizers. But at 5 PM nothing was happening. Finally an announcement was made that they were unable to get the game. Our ship called to the other ships in Ft Lauderdale and they all reported that they weren't getting the game. It was determined that the "sender" was having problems - nothing to do with the ships trying to "receive". So no one got to see the game.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I sent an email to Holland and they replied they are going to do their best to show it. I will still pack DH's drugs to sedate him in case it is not on. :) Or just let him have free reign at the casino (he would LOVE that!).

Is Superbowl Sunday a Sea Day for your cruise or are you in port? Do you, per chance, have a late departure from say.....San Juan?
